I for one have made many mistakes while being intoxicated that I later regretted. I don't fault him for that, it happens. That he at least took RESPONSIBILITY for his actions and apologized, speaks volumes. I also did not find the Passion of the Christ as antisemetic, as it was a very biblically accurate portrayal.

What do you think? Will you ban his movies or will you give him a break?

He was arrested for driving will intoxicated. He made antisemetic statements during his arrest. After sobering up, he made a very public apology to everyone... admitting that he has struggled most of his adult life with alcoholism and apologizing for his statements and to his family for the shame he brought them by his actions.

It won't affect my thoughts on his movies he's a character actor he chooses good characters. The Passion of Christ was the biggest exercise in a Hollywood actor arrogance I've seen in quite some time. Was it anti-Semitic ? It's a perception of historical fiction and it depends on who tells the story. I laugh when I think what a fool this man made of himself getting arrested drunk then blaming the Jews for starting the war, is hilarious. Then coming out and apologizing with a disclaimer I've been an alcoholic "most my adult life" is also amusing. He's not the first, he won't be the last to blame an ethnic group for some thing or other. I don't put much stalk in news reports about actors and arrests anyway. How the mighty fall and how those who idolize them want a piece when they hit the ground. So what he blames the Jews for the war I blame faulty arrogant American politics and greed under Bush. He didn't lynch anyone or blow up a Dr's office, he got drunk and ranted like a idiot. The public apology is a good step but it's only the first step driving while intoxicated is serious he should thank the cops who arrested him for it.

I dont choose the movies I watch based on the actions of the actors , actresses or others who made it. I base my choices on entertainment value. I would never have seen Roman Polanski's The Pianist (a fantastic movie) if I had decided to never watch a RP film based on his actions. The only reason Mel is even being brought up is because he has anounced to the world he is a Christain and so he is being held up as a "example of a failed Christian" This standard isnt being used with other Actors or Directors. It sickens me that ANY excuse to bash a Christian is allowed. On the other hand when we do pick up that mantle of Christ we must be prepared for such persecution (Christ said it would happen) So I guess this is just more proof that Jesus is correct.

It's unfortunate that the accusations of Mel Gibson being Anti-Semitic have resurfaced. Critics said he was Anti-Semitic due to his film, "Passion of the Christ" and although I haven't seen the film, if it is Biblically-based, Jesus Christ WAS crucified by the Jews, his very own people, in other words He received no support from them.
But, anyhow, Jesus knew He had to die for the whole world for the remission of sin, so it would have happened anyways and God forgave the Jews. Concerning Mel, he is a fine actor and whether he is actually in any films for a while is the question.
If we really knew all the things hollywood stars/celebrities were thinking, would any of us go to the movies? (I'm sure there are celebrities who don't associate with or dislike blacks, whites, hispanics, indians, native americans, Christians, Muslims, poor, people, tall people, short people, fat people, green people, etc.)
What Mel Gibson said was really hurtful to people and growing up with his father being a Anti-Semitic Nazi, well, like father like son?.... Sad sad sad.

Let's have a look at... A boy and his dog (couldn't feel what I was watching, a complete waste of my time) The Host (Having learn the publication, I was once anticipating anything way better, so it was a massive disappointment) I bought others, but these two are the ones I take into account the most. Hope it helps! ;)

No, I think it was great that he issued an apology right away and said that he realizes he really could have hurt someone. As far as the remarks he made, people say stupid things while they are drunk, it happens. I believe we will see news soon saying he is in rehab however, because he has battled this before and obviously has relapsed in a major way.

Let he who is without stone cast the first sin. LOL!

Mel's movies are too good to miss just because of something he did in his private life, especially if he apologized and took full responsibility.

I look at it this way... I love Elton John's songs, but there's no way in ____ I'd ever go camping with the guy. Just stay out of Mel's car and I'm sure you'll be alright. (I wouldn't want to ride around with Stevie Wonder, either, but I love his music.)

Peace and love.

Everyone deserves a second chance. I have been in his situation before, and it is a very stressful thing to deal with, I am sure he was just speaking out of anger, not meaning anything he really said. I would equate what he said, with a couple who is fighting and says things they don't mean, that doesn't mean that afterwords they don't still love each other, and the probably don't even really mean what they said.

I will not judge him based on what he said, it will not effect my decisions to see his movies. Judging should be left in God's hands, not ours.

there was a segment on the news this morning that Mel Gibson wasn't the one who made antisemitic remarks, the remarks were added after the fact by someone trying to slander Mel Gibson, he seems to me to be a pretty upstanding citizen, goes to a Pius X Latin Rite traditional Catholic church, still married to his high school sweetheart and has a bunch of kids with her, and from interviews with him on TV seems to be an alright kind of guy
