So many people are siding with Lebanon because of the civilian deaths but no one is suggesting an alternative! What did you really expect to happen?? I mean, you are angry that Israel is winning this war against the Hizbollah but if Israel didn't go to war, the Hizbollah would be murdering civilians in Israel! So, is that better? Would that be alright with you??

Nobody seems to be outraged when Hezbollah or Hamas attacks Israel without provocation but when Israel fights back to defend itself from these TERRORIST organizations everybody seems outraged. When innocent lives are taken by Israel it is by accident and regretable but Hezbollah and Hamas intentionally kill innocent civilians without provocation and the Arab world CELEBRATES!! Shame on those who wont support Israel.

The mideast conflict is one which could bring in much more disaster than it has until now. The alternative measure which has already been proposed by the united nations is an immediate cease fire. Talks would then have to follow. The united states government has rejected that option. If you feel that lebanon will sit back and watch it's country turn to rubble, you are lost, as is the united states government. The killing of today will either escalate later in the day, or will give reason to kill in the weeks, months, years to come. Just be grateful, that no other party has gotten involved in this one. Atleast not yet.

Ben, Ben,

First of all, I think most Palestinians want peace. But the Palestinian authorities are not reining in Hamas, and Hamas does not want peace. When Israel isn't involved, Fatah and Hamas are ready to go at each other. If Hamas stopped, and conceeded the existence of Israel, and it's right to exist, things would be different.

As far as Lebanon goes ... Hezbollah is not looking for captured soldiers. Just for example, the top 3 people on Hezbollah's list of prisoners they want freed are 3 people who crossed the border into Israeli territory and murdered Israeli citizens. Why should Israel give up such people to Hezbollah? Do you honestly think ANY soverign nation is wrong to imprison someone like that?

Hezbollah wants more Hezbollah guerillas back, so they can wage more war.

If you say Israel wants peace for it people then cant Palestinians harbor the same want for themselves...what do you say about Israel's stance on the UN resolution 242 and 338(withdrawal of Israelis from Palestinian territory they occupied in 1967 war).
Having an unbiased look at this situation will help you assess the situation....When Israel was so miserable for release of its soldiers from Lebanon..then cant Lebanon ask for their soldiers to be released.Israel will surely win this battle but even if they employ their nuclear power, they wont be able to shake their fervor and valor they are showing now defending almost unarmed in comparison to Israel...

what alternative do you suggest, killing a whole family,a complete house of generations just to get rid of a van carrying missiles .

Israelis have US to escape to if in line of fire and they have all the resources to do so...

There are close to 8000 Arabic people in Israel prisons, most of whom have never had a hearing or a trial--many of whom have been tortured in horrible ways until about about two months ago when the Israeli "surpreme court" decided torture wasn't nice and the lead judge decided against it not based on Israeli law which permits torture but because he personally didn't like it anymore. Many of these 8000 have been imprisoned for up to 10 years or more in solitary confinement.

So Hezbollah was wanting to exchange the two soldiers for the 8000. Germany has been the middle-man on these deals before. Isreal refused to talk to Germany to Germany's great confusion since they too are a guilt-trip contributor to the Isreali national budget. (The USA for some ungodly reason has given the Jews $105 billion since 1948 in DIRECT contributions--not counting the indirect ones.)

The only conclusion any rational person on the outside can reach is that the Jews just like to kill people. There is NO justification for anything they are doing--from the REPEATED shelling of Palestinian families picnicking on that beach, to the assault on the UN Observers bunker (10 accidents in ONE DAY?), and now the wholesale slaughter of women and children.

Sharon was (FINALLY) fed up with killing and wanted peace--and see what it got him? So did Perez and he was shot up by a Zionist punk who was allowed through his bodyguards, and so on.

Israel is an outlaw "nation" (actually a conspiracy against decent people everywhere) with no legitmacy at all even in its founding.

To return to your question, Israel not only should have taken Hizboallah's deal but should have committed suicide afterwards or else waded into the sea, boarded their ZIM transports and departed the bloody soil of Palestine.

People keep forgetting that Israel has to protect their civilians, too! If they didn't, don't you think the families of the killed and kidnapped soldiers would be VERY UPSET? And what about all the suicide bombs in Israel EVERY DAY for SO MANY DECADES? Have people forgotten that????

And by the way, Israel HAS negotiated MANY times before. They gave land to them. They tore up their OWN settlements and kicked out their OWN people in the name of PEACE. And what happened? They got attacked YET AGAIN.
OBVIOUSLY NEGOTIATING DOESN'T WORK when it's with TERRORISTS. Israel will just end up getting hurt again. So it's time to defend themselves.

Israel has been using "restraint" for the last 6 years since it pulled its troops out of south Lebanon.

Currently, Israel agreed to a 48 hour cease fire. Hezbollah has continued to send rockets into Israel.

IDF video clips available on MFA website
The footage shows Hizbullah's firing of rockets from Kafr Qana and behind buildings, and the use of civilians as human shields:

--Hizbullah missile fire from within the village of Kafr Qana

-- Hizbullah firing rockets from behind buildings

-- Hizbullah use of civilian shields

No one wins in a war. Property can be restored, but even a lifetime is not long enough to resolve grief over a lost loved one.

Since Muslims, Jews and Christians believe in the messiah, maybe praying for the messiah to come and bring lasting peace before the world destroys itself would be a win-win-win solution

I think both sides are going overboard, but I feel like Lebanon should have just let the 2 Israeli soldiers go from the beginning. The middle east should know that Israel is not going to take stuff lightly...

Israel could have negotiated peacefully ... not just level Lebanon.

Israel is supposed to have the right to exist ... but Lebanon doesn't? Israelis did to Lebanon, what Israel is afraid will happen to them.

a million. no one is speaking approximately destroying Iran and no needs to "injury Iran." 2. There are no "recommendations" related to taking Iranian land. be happy to offer credible aspects in case you elect to contest this. 3. Your next assertion is rather deceptive. each and each conflict related to Israel has been a conflict began by using Arabs. And while Israel wins, she supplies to commerce all land gained in replace for peace. despite if, each and each time, the Arab states refused to realize this. ultimately, after a number of years, Egypt asked if the deal became nevertheless on the table and Israel replied that it became and traded Sinai for peace. at the instant Iran is already at conflict with and attacking Israel by using proxies. the only element absolutely everyone seems to be speaking approximately is bombing their nuclear weapons centers to end their nuclear weapons application. And very almost each Arab state helps attacking Iran's nuclear weapons application.
