This would be used to tow my boat very short distances, under 2 miles, no hills. Weight of boat 4,000 lbs.

The boat ramp is a hill. That Avalon doesn't weigh 4000 lbs it's a bad idea. Tempting but bad. Do you have a freind with a truck ?

it is not a god idea especially since the vehicle was not meant to pull that much weight,you could be asking for trouble later down the road,,especially with the transmission,,i have seen hitches on these but they were small hitches ,,only meant to pull at best a light weight utility trailer,,you may be OK,,with no hills and a short distance,,just keep a watch on it,,and make sure it is not straining it,,i hope this help,s.

Contact Toyota or look at the manual to see what is the gross vehicle towing mass unbraked and braked. Check the weight of the boat and trailer combination.

No. You'll rip the bolts out of the unibody frame if you even found a place to bolt it too.
