Yes they do have children and they can be brats just like the rest. I have been a child psychologist for over 10 years with 2 children both with behavioral problems and more than once I had to check if I had any hair left, afraid I pulled it out.

My sister is a child psychologist and has no kids. My cousin is a child psychologist and has a baby boy. It is too soon to say what his behavioural problems might be. Another cousin's daughter is also a psychologist; she hopes to have kids some day.
So I guess some do, some don't. My sister had reasons not to have kids which were based on her work with Down's Syndrome and Autistic kids.
Am very curious as to why you ask.

I have a diploma in Child Psychology and I am currently working towards a BSc in Psychology. It is useful to know why certain behaviours may arise - about stages of development etc but it is a diverse subject with a diversity of opinion and not a 'this is the way to raise your children' manual..
My own wee girl (22months) is doing great - so on the other hand it can't be doing any harm either!

My best friend's father was a child psychologist, and I'd say if anything, he was the kind of parent that encourages his children to "see for themselves." For instance, my friend wanted tot ake alcohol, so his father said, "ok, try it" -- my friend picked up a bottle of vodka and took a big gulp, spit it out and spent about 10 minutes recovering. He was ten years old, and you can bet he never developed drinking problems! My friend told me that he was thankful for this experience because many of his friends now have problems with alcohol. His father took a different approach with his sister on this issue, which worked as well.
My friends father not only studied psychology- he was extremely intuitive. He knew that this is the best way my friend would learn based on his personality. A good parent will vary the way they help their children learn lessons, because each child has a different personality and will be receptive to learning in different styles.

i will never forget i took a child development class in college.
the author of the textbook had a comment in the forward
that said:
i used to have three theories on child development.
now i have three children and no theories.
yes they have children. they try their best just like the rest of us.
they have problems just like the rest of us.
sometimes dieticians and nutritionists are overweight.
sometimes marriage counselors are divorced.
they can still have expertise on the matter.

I know a couple of child psychologists, in my experience their children are generally intelligent but socially inept.

Yes, and I would say they would have the same amount of problems to the same extent as everyone else's children. The parents would just be able to pinpoint the problems earlier, and be able to solve them faster.

i´m sure they don´t have children, because they love to give advice about things they just read about, but they never had to face before:
