They were abandoned by their mothers Oreo and Marshmallow Cream. 2 belong to Marsh and the other 5 belong to Oreo. After their mommies left them and ran away with the rooster that belongs to the house on the other side of the woods, they were alone. My brother and I fed them. They recieved leftover lunches and dinner(6 person family, so of course theres a lot left over). Then as they grew older, they would't leave the yard.
Here's the kicker to the story: Whenever the side door is open thet let themselves inside. One even went as far as going upstairs, checked out every room in the house, and tried to escape through a closed upstairs window. They like to be petted and whenever we have a barbeque, they seem to help themselves to the bread. They are also not afraid to eat from my hand. They dont even sleep in the coops that were built for them. They prefer to sleep in the outdoor room, trees, or on the roof. My buddy thinks the whole thing is abnormal. What do you guys think???

Your chickens are quite normal, they have been humanized. They look to you and your brother as their parents and are picking up your habits - even going in the house, they don't see anything wrong with it - you go in there - right!

But for their protection, you need to build them a coop, a place where they can be locked up at night. This isn't being mean, they are the low man on the totem pole (food chain), starve them for a day and put scrapes in the pen right before dark, they will go in there, just shut the door.

Remember it is for their protection.

Best of luck - enjoy your friends!

chicken is on the subject of the final nutrition i could take any probability approximately through fact they meanwhile are infested with MRSA germs plenty and those germs no longer in basic terms make you unwell, they might kill you through fact there is hardly any scientific care obtainable anymore. So do no longer in basic terms depose of this chicken yet additionally supply all chicken contaminated factors an intensive cleansing: frequently I´m extremely a slob than a careful tidy guy or woman yet with the substantial use of antibiotics issues have replaced and that i don´t want you to verify the hard way.

Haha, I think it's really neat! We have a hen and a rooster but they are wild as heck. What a great story you now have to tell people. I'd just be concerned with their poop they'll leave all over the house. But no, not abnormal. Maybe you could train them to use a litter box? lol No I think they'd kick the litter all over the place, don't do that...

I think you and your brother's love for the chickens, made them think you both are their parents. As parents, they feel safe around you. This explains about the eating out of the hand thing. They followed your example of sleeping in the house by sleeping on the house or trees(They might think that the trees are green rooms).

I think they lead a wonderful life. If you don't mind their idiosyncrasies, then let them continue enjoying themselves.
