Does anyone know if Prednosone (a steroid) might cause high blood pressure? An aquaintance of mine has never had blood pressure problems and now she does. She is 40 years old. Thanks!

Steroids on its own doesn't cause high Bp but tends to aggrevate a person already with hypertension. Your aquaintance might have been an undiagnosed hypertensive, which has flared up due to prednisone use.

Yes it can.

Try this,

While it does not say "elevated blood pressure" specifically read
all of the side effects and draw your own conclusion.

Best Wishes and Good Fortune.

Prednisone is bad stuff. High bp is a side effect which should be reported IMMEDIATELY to her doctor. She needs to be on alternative meds.
