Over the weekend he made a visit to Iran and is now bent on steering Venezuela into the Axis of Evil. It's also been reported that Iranian and possibly Hamas officials have been spotted in Caracas. For all his anti-American rhetoric, he's a small man leading a small country that wants to be a major world player. His claims that the U.S. is going to attack Venezuela is just a smokescreen for him to consolidate power and reamin in office for life. The millions of rifles he recently purchased (not to mention the Kalashnikov factory he just announced) will no doubt find their way into neighboring Colombia and help to further destabilize tht country. He's aligned himself with Ahmadenijad who has repeatedly called for Israels destruction, pursues nuclear weapons and aids terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah and possibly FARC in Colombia in the near future. He's becoming more than just a fly to swat, he's becoming Mussolini to Ahmadenijad's Hitler.

Chavez doesn't realize that the situation can easily spiral out of control ... inviting terrorists to freely operate in Venezuela could backfire once those terrorists blend in with the South American population and begin to form larger cells that could one day pose a threat to his own government.

Chavez has much more mouth than influence or military might. He thinks that his oil makes him a world power but like the Middle East, he is totally dependent on American oil consumers for his oil revenue.

I think that if you had lived in South America you would understand that they are terrified of the U.S. and with good reason. Chavez himself was the subject of a CIA led Coup attempt just a few years back. It is sad that we force potential allies into a corner. I do not think that we should have forced him to choose sides. The current administration has gone out of its way to pick fights with half the world and is surprised at how it is working out? And as for Colombia, I have lived there and can tell you personally that they are very thankful that the U.S. invaded and took Panama all those years back. They are also very grateful for all the American coke addicts that have funded a state of total lawlessness in their country. Those kinds of things are still very fresh in the minds of many Colombians and many South Americans. Trust me, people are not big fans of getting jacked and they remember it for a long time. Your logic is completely one sided and ultra simplistic. I am not saying Chavez is a great guy, but like so many others, he is a beast created by ultra aggressive U.S. foreign policy. Trust me all that guy wants to do is pull Hamaca and Zuata from the ground upgrade it and ship it to his handy dandy Citgo refineries in the U.S. and sell it. It is time for the current adminsitration to wake up. Seriously, they don't speak for me. I love my country and the bully crowd in D.C. is ruining it for all of us. Taking everybody's lunch money and then making fun of them afterwards for acting weird is not something that I am proud of or support. There is no need to "create" enemies out of otherwise paper tigers there are enough real enemies out there. The sad part is that Chavez probably will become an enemy of the U.S. That could have been stopped by a more intelligent diplomatic branch. I don't think that it was a have to be situation, I think it was made by Washington idiots and now normal Americans like me have to pay the price. It just seems so simple, don't make an enemy where there is not one. Why can't this admin get it? What a joke. They are not true conservatives I will tell you that. True conservatives don't go looking for it. True conservatives like McCain and Dole know what war is and don't try to make ememies. They will fight if they have to, that is it. Coked out imbeciles who flaked out on their call to duty are all to happy to start shi@ everywhere they can. It is sad. A truly great leader is measured by the peace and prosperity they bring about, not how much sh@t they can talk and many fights they can start. Real leadership is about avoiding the fight if you can and only fighting when you have to. If you ask me, I see a lot of similarity with Bush and the old USSR Premiers that used to go around talking trash all the time and starting stuff everywhere they could. It is a stupid policy that leads to poverty disease and hurt ... everywhere. Nothing more.

Interesting, while reading your question I got the impression that maybe there's an anti-American coalition forming involving countries around the globe. Chavez IS a fool and I think you're right about terrorists posing a threat to Venezuela. Evidently he doesn't care about the U.S. or his own people.

He is just playing up to the anti-american states.
I don't blame him a bit. The american CIA and Administrations have tended to subvert foriegn contries to their own means for a long time. The americans are wrong! It is not our place to subvert other contries. Why do you think there is so much terrorism against us?
If the US would do humanitarian causes and not military and help new countries to build and by example everyone would be better off.

You are correct. Congratulations you are an intellectual. However, this sort of talk is helping to bring down pan-American society and setting back Middle-East relations by centuries. I hope you are pleased with yourself.

Lot of the stuff he's doing plays well to the public, but is simply for show. But I agree with you that he may find the consequences of his actions may take a turn for the unexpected.

I hope the Venezuelan people who voted this scumbag into power rot under his dictatorship for decades.
Not one penny, not one drop of US blood to help them. They voted for hell - let them live it out.
