Depending on the features you need:

If you need fax, don't care about color, and it is in high use, go with the i think its model 3055 hp all in one laserjet.

If you need fax, care about color, and high use, the 7410 is a great choice, it also does good photo printing.

If you care a bit more about photo printing and aren't going to be using it a tremendous amount, the hp 3310 and the canon 830 are both great printers they both carry fax, the 3310 has wireless networking, the canon has excellent resolution and has a large black tank for document printing.

If fax isn't important, and not use a ton, but still want photo printing, the canon mp500 is a phenominal printer, it has the same ink tanks as the 830, (5 total tanks, 2 black, magenta yellow, and cyan) replacement cost is cheap, if I was going to buy a printer, thats the one I would get.

If you just need a basic printer to print out documents, don't need color, scanning or faxing, the samsung ml2010 laser printer is a bargain under 130 (be aware toner will cost about 80 to replace)

I will not comment on the best, but I would nominate any Lexmark product as the worst. The cost of replacing the dried up cartridges when you do not use the printer over the weekend, will have you changing to a new all in one product, very quickly.

Any HP all in one. Ihave the 2650 fax/scanner/copier and you can connect your digital camera(USB) in the front and the view screen is big too. Ink can be bought in double packs and here in Canada about $25 each, which gives you quite a few copies before replacing.
