parents....what do you guys have against thongs?? im 13 and my moms like no until i finally convinced her a couple days ago but still whats so bad about them?

i am 14 and i dont know why either i geuss they think boys will try playing with them if the show i dont knwo but i have millions of them lol

From the POV of a 15 year old:
It gives off the wrong image for guys and people at ur school. Sure it's the 'in' thing to do but chances are, you're gonna get talked about. People still talk about people like that. "Omg she wears a thing!" ect...especially in highschool. Plus why would you want a permanent wedgie for? That's gotta be like the most uncomfortable feeling in the world. Like I said before I know it's the 'in' thing to do, but maybe the question should be why do you want a thong? To become more 'popular'? to fit in? just be yourself kid. Life's too short to go around following everyone else.

Because It's seen as a symbol for sex!!! And parents don't want to think about their 13 year old daughter having sex. I tried them I don't like them that much by the way I'm 19 and I didn't wear my first thong until I was 18 but really their not all that great.

thongs are thought of as sexual.Kids and teens get enough advetisements of sex.( magazines, TV,fashion) What is the reason you want to wear them? To feel like you are older? cause everyone else wears them? Parents hate to think of thier kids as adults and really hate to think of them anywhere around sex.Thongs are related to thoughts of sex.Its lingerie,so are panties and bras but thery are a must.
Now if you wanted to wear thongs just for the case of not wanting panty lines to show...then there are some panties out there that do not prevent lines that are not thongs.I feel 13 is too young for thongs but its also the maturity of 13 year olds.Try not to grow up too fast....believe me its not all its made up to be.have fun, be happy, be young, enjoy it now before you have real problems.

i startes wearing them wen i was 11 and how i started wen i was at koehls 1 time me and my mom were lookin 4 underwear cause its usually like 5 for $3 so we were lookin and it was mostely thongs and it took a long time and she was just like forget about the underwear and get a thong and i was like ok!
my mom had nothing against it and there actually pretty comfortable

Actually, thongs aren't very hygienic.
Bacteria is transferred easier from your anus to your vagina when you wear a thong as opposed to normal underwear. It ups your chance of getting a yeast infection and stuff.
I think if you're hell bent on wearing one, don't make it a frequent occasion, just wear one when you NEED to. And don't get g-strings, they transfer bacteria even easier than regular thongs.

Why do you want to wear thong underwear?
This is the reason that parent's say no way....
1) You're not going to be wearing them unless you're showing them to people.
2) If you want them so you don't have a panty line, then you're clothes are too tight for your age..
Basically.. you're going to be showing them to people, or you're dressing inappropriatley.. that's the reason.

They think if a boy sees it, it looks too sexy and may give them the wrong idea. Also thongs can cause you to have infections down there because the string goes up your butt and can rub bad bacteria in the other place.

I am just guessing, but those kind of underwear are generally for show, because they sure as heck aren't comfortable, and I imagine mom doesn't want anyone seeing them!!! They look incredibly trashy if you wear the low rise pants that are in style, and moms don't want anyone to think their kids are trash. Speaking as a mom, my girls won't be allowed to wear them. When they buy their own clothing and move out, then they can be as trashy as they want to be, but hopefully the values I have instilled in them will stick and they will have no desire. By the way, I wouldn't wear them myself!!!

Most men find them provacative. So, if you wear one for whatever reason, KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS.
Many women find them offensive, because most of them show your crack when you bend over. Granny panties are more pleasant. Boy shorts get rid of lines.
