People try to dress like their idols. Rap is in, so suburban white boys will dress like 50 Cent.

The oversized jersey trend was slightly damaged by Jay-Z's line "I don't wear jerseys, I'm 30 plus/give me a fresh pair of jeans and a button-up" or something like that. Honestly he mostly killed it off with celebrities and people who follow those celebrities way too closely. (And why are teenagers trying to dress like a 38-year-old anyway?)

So those celebrities and trendhoppers have switched to sweaters, polos, vests, button-ups. All kinds of Lance Bass-looking gear. No Big Tigger.

Also a movement has started towards t-shirts, in particular one-color tees, the kind you get at Foot Locker. Usually white or black, maybe blue or red if a person feels like claiming Bloods or Crips, which 90% of the time will be a total bs claim.

The story goes that everybody started wearing these to hide more easily from the police. (think about it...if a guy robs a store and the description is "a black guy with a white t-shirt", and they go there and 40 black guys are wearing white tees, how easily will they find the right guy?)

Other popular t-shirts will take a famous logo and spin it into a "thug" theme. (For example: I own a shirt that changes the Mountain Dew logo to "Whut It Dew", a popular saying in Texas and the Bay Area)

Fitted hats ****** to some ridiculous angle are still in. Jay-Z still does that.

As a suburban white boy (from Iowa no less), I wear what you would call "thug" clothing myself. Often times I get compliments (or "mad propz...yo") on my jerseys, shoes, etc., from black people. In and out-of-state. So I would say the look is still in quite a bit.

(I have yet to meet one of these superthugs that bust caps in white boys for wearing baggy jeans. Racism is fantastic.)

1. its not a gangster look. if you want to dress up like a gangster watch the movie Scarface, and dress up like them.

2. all it is is wearing pants to big for you, so that when you steal something and are trying to run from the cops, your pants fall down and trip you.

3. they show off wut money they have. true "gangsters" would not show of or brag about there blood money to everyone in the world.

in conclusion, they are wanna be's who have no clue wut they are doing. and not even worthy to be called gangster (or as they illiterately say "gangsta") o yeah, they don't even talk in English. they use Ebonics. what the heck? come on guys, speaking like you're a 4 year old should not be a language. ESPECIALLY for "thugs, and gangstas" as you like to call yourselves.
