It's means you're in LUCK...

It means that if you will lay out the donuts... like and even dozen of them... as a wager... the guy is willing to lay out an equal number of dollars as his half of the wager - a one to one match up. Get it??

Wow - what an opportunity you've got. Think about it...

You'll have to have a safe bet, of course; I mean, you'll be risking a lot of donuts here. A full dozen, (if they're the good ones,) will only cost you something like $6 - a small price to pay for such a precious commodity... We're talkin' donuts here.!

But... look at it this way: If you're in a safe bet and it pays off just like you thought it would... you'll just about double you money and that means that your sack of donuts is gunna swell - you'll have a two for one gain in donuts... !!! A darn good deal and you ought to think about it.... hard.!

Of course it all goes back to the thing you're betting on... if you're wrong about whatever you two we're in disagreement over, you'll be out the original sack of a dozen roundies, (that's just my nick-name for donuts, "roundies." I like the plain ones best. They're best for dunking in coffee because they soak it up without leaving a bunch of crud behind in the cup... you know, like when you get to the bottom of your coffee... you don't wanna find a lot of cocoanut or peanuts or red and yellow and blue and green little candy sprinkles...) ... hmmm?... where did I leave off? ... oh yeah, with the risk of you loosing your roundies on a bad bet. Well... think it over really hard, (I believe I said that already but it's worth repeating when donuts are on the line,) ... if the bet seems solid enough - like you're on the side saying that the sky is blue and not pink, like the pink icing of some of the donuts they push onto little kids... but if your like, saying that the sky isn't pink and covered with those dumb multi-colored candy sprinkles - you know the ones I'm talkin' about...?? ...they're shaped like tiny medicine capsules and sort'a longish??? ...well anyhow, if that's the kind of bet you're in ---- GO FOR IT.!!

I'd lay about a hundred sacks in front of the dude and tell him to make his case or cough up the donut money. When he looses he'll get the surprise of his life... ha ha ha ha ha. A hundred sacks of donuts - twelve to a sack - is like one thousand two-hundred roundies... at a cost of about half of what he's gunna pay out. Dude's gunna have to lay out cash enough for twice that amount, see!

Sheezzee-man-eezzee...! Tell the donut guy to start up the fryer! Baby... you'll be in donut heaven, for sure. You'll be swimmin' in roundies...Like two thousand four-hundred of the precious little guys.

You are one LUCKY gal, I'll tell ya. I'm sweatin' here.

But look, I gotta run now... It's been good but I'm heddin’ down to the shop, you know, to do a little dunkin' ... I like to take an hour or two each afternoon for a little pleasure break. Maybe I'll have a little time to check out my e-mail before I head back to the shop again this evening - you could let me in on what happens in your bet before I go and do a little midnight nibblin' round the hole, (that's what I call it when I just get a bag of cocoanut roundies and no coffee...you know, like when ya just have yer roundies n’nothin’ else.) I like the coconut ones best for that - the shreds are like little hairs and they tickle my lips and go up my nose. Ha ha ha, …midnight nibblin' round the hole is the best ...

Well anyhow... see ya.. and good luck with yer donuts

Dollars to donuts is supposed to have many sources the one I think is most likely is this

DONUTS are shaped like zeros ( 0 ) so if you are betting dollars to donuts you are making a good bet if you win you get money (dollars) if you loose you give away nothing. (zero, donuts... get it) so it is basically saying I am pretty sure but not sure enough to really risk betting anything on it. (sometimes use the reverse way as In I am so sure I am willing to bet money and you do not even have to put up anything against it)

It remains from an era when donuts cost far less than a dollar. If, say, a donut cost 10 cents, you would be betting one dollar against the other person's 10 cents, giving them 10:1 odds.

Thus, "I'd bet you dollars to donuts that she would never dance with you" means, I'm fairly certain she'd never dance with you.

The person is betting on a sure thing. He's betting his dollars to your donuts(zeros are donuts) that he is right. Take the bet.

I think it means that the person is willing to put odds in your favor, as he knows he is right.

I will not bet you "dollars to donuts' that i am right, but I think I am.

It means you are so sure of something that you'll bet your dollars (that's worth something) to someone's donuts (that's not worth anything).

The person knows that he is right. Thus he is betting you with money against something of little value. Giving you good odds, because he thinks you are not going to win the bet.
