I don't think there is freedom of speech at all in the U.S.
For example, you can't write *** or **** on this website because it offends people. The idea of Free Speech is just an idea, its not real because I can't write pussy.

i have read a great many questions on the subject and if you are called an anti-semite, and I do call people that, it is because the opinion you espoused was anti-semetical.

As for Israel's Foriegn Policy, and by that, I assume you are talking about the fact that they are not willing to give the country to the Islamics who want it for their own. Go for it but be aware that it really does come down to two religions fighting over the same holy land and neither one has definitive claim to the area. So, if the Israelis want to blast Hezbollah strong holds and Hezbollah wants to bomb Israeli cities that is the way it is going to be. Neither side is backing down.

As for me I wish people would tone it down. Talk is cheap at this moment and people are doing all they can to get the fighting stopped.

Americans can certainly feel justified in feeling that they have lost their freedom of speech over this issue. However, the cure is simple. Stick out your chin and say what you believe. You'll discover that more people agree with you that you expect. Don't worry about your opinions being unpopular. Don't worry if others don't agree with you. Say what you believe. Tell your friends. Tell the press. Tell your senator.

Here in the UK the military actions of Israel are much more frowned upon by the public. Our government sides with America over these issues but the public does not share the same blind support of Israel that the american press presents.

Please, let Israel be! They're a couple of million people trying to live in a piece of land about the size of New Jersey for thousands of years, surrounded by fierce enemies that want to see them all dead. The United States can attack and invade any country they want for no apparent reason and the world stays idle. Now Israel is trying to defend itself and we have a bunch of uneductated people criticizing them. We have to understand the context of the issue. It's not about 300 people dead, although we regret the loss of life, but it's about generation upon generation of struggle. Most of the arabs are cowards, they are a multitude of people living in a sea of land and they still can't destroy the jews. They hide behind women and children instead of fighting the israeli army head on. Israel should and will always defend itself. They have been thrown out of their land many times, and now that they get the chance to have an established state the whole world goes up against them. It's ridiculous. The world voted to have the state of Israel established. Their history goes beyond six thousand years on that region, much before there was islam (islam emerged around 600 a.d.). I say, go Israel, go after your enemies, but this time finish them off, don't pay attention to the world, because their opinion is always changing. Go United States, help your friend Israel and you will live in peace like you have for many years. My desire is that we see peace in Jerusalem...

Of course not. You can say whatever you wish. Unfortunatley, it seems that most people, when they go off about Israel turn it anti-semetic. Then, they get banned. *shrugs* The plain and simple truth of the matter is; if they just LEFT the Jews ALONE over there, there would be no problem. But, the entire region is anti-semetic and wants Israel gone, just because they are Jewish. So, there will never be peace.

No we have not lost our freedom of speech, and I'll prove it.

The USA should be helping Israel. The enemies of Israel, are the enemies of the USA. The USA shouldn't have asked the United Nations for permission to relatiate after 9/11. Israel didn't ask the United Nations for permission to retaliate, because they didn't need to. They demanded the return of their soldiers, and when the deadline wasn't met, they backed up their words.

Oh we're free to say anything we want about Israel's foreign policy, it's just that if we criticize them in any way, we are labled anti-semites. I see it on YA all the time. Very sad.

I understand. NO, in America we have the first amendment to be able to disagree, besides if you only monitor this board in Gov & Politics, you may be surprised at the Qs you might see.
In Germany however, it is a crime punishable by jail time to question wheather or not the holocaust happened.
But no not in America. Lots of people are doing it here and in Eurpoe.

We haven't lost our freedom of speech until we stop talking. If you disagree with Isreal then you should just come right out and say it, you're not alone in those thoughts (I know dozens of people, including myself, who feel the same way--and we talk about it all the time)!

You have freedom of speech. But so do the other millions of people who are commenting on the war in the middle east.

Have you been hauled off to jail yet? I think you can relax. You do have freedom of speech in this country. Millions of military men and women have fought and do fight every day for you to have the right.
