First babies are generally about a week early, but not premature and usually not late but if the do come out premature or late - don't worry.

It depends on your cycle baby will let you know when it is ready which is anywhere form 36 weeks to 42 weeks your doctor knows your status and if he feels the need he may do a stess test this actually shows if you are having contractions and form there if it deems necessary they will ask you if you want to induce labor, Remember baby's lungs must be developed so relax and enjoy your the peace and quiet while you can. Usually the premature first babies are multiple births Stay healthy see your doctor and you should have no fears. Good Luck and Best Wishes for a happy healthy newborn

My Grandma used to say "The first baby can come any time, after that it takes 9 months."
No one knows when a first baby will arrive. It can be anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period. It all depends on how ready that baby is to come out and greet the world. Some of the little guys have been known to have to be forced to make their entry by inducing. But no one has ever gone much longer than the standard 9 months, give or take. He won't be in there on his graduation day!

I don't think that there is any good guideline. It seems to be different for everyone. I think that there is an old wives tale that first babies come late. Mine came 15 days early. Every woman and pregnancy is different. And don't believe the rule of thumb that you'll be like your mother's pregnancies. My mom had both of her babies a little late.

I was two weeks late with my first daugter and had to be induced. It all depends on the mother and the pregnancy. But I have heard in general most firsts are late or on time, if the pregnancy is without complications.

my best friend had her first 3 months early, my first was born on her due date, me being the first of my mother was 5 days late. It all depends on when your body is ready to have the baby.

Hiya you have had many answers already to your question, but I always thought by theory many first babies are late. Although my son decided to come 2 weeks early, due to the fact I had pre-eclampsia.
I think it is just down to when the baby is ready to arrive!

It all depends on the baby when they want to come out. Being the first kid or the 5th kid doesnt matter. My first 2 were induced 2 weeks early because of my blood pressure.
