Yes I did once. It was missing for like 2 weeks and I found it, the police didn't. When I found it, I called the cops and they came with me to get it back. The car wasn't really trashed, the guy who stole it just took out my son's car seat, stole all the spare change from the ashtray, took my cell phone charger and things from the rear view mirror and ran out all the gas. Other than that it was fine.

Had a Ford Taurus stolen several years ago. It was stolen with the Club on it. (I should have sued Winner International for that!). Recovered the next day with both airbags and the radio missing. Insurance covered total costs of damage of $3,800.

Yeah - my car was stolen last christmas out of the parking lot of the mall I used to work at.
It sucked - I was working from 9am until 11pm...and at about 9pm I went to check on my car - start it to warm it up before I had to leave in a couple hours (I live in new york...it snows like crazy. lol) and I'm walking around...walking around.....walking around some more - - then it finally hit me that my car was stolen. IT SUCKED ***.
Not because I wanted my car - but my $1750- violin that was sitting in the backseat (cause I'm an asshole and left it there!).
Yeah, well...LONG story short ...4 days later my messy car was returned to the opposite side of the parking lot...with everything but my violin and car stereo, and missing my black leather gloves.
There was a bunch of **** left in there that they had. Boxes of crap...a diff. pair of gloves, leftover chinese food.
I was completely grossed out - I couldn't even get into the car.
I'm amazed they had the audacity to return it back there..but what do they care? Seems like they've done this before and knew they'd get away with it.
-shrugs-
I have a better car now...
Believe it or not - - that car was a 1992 Saturn...
ew. lol

Yes, I have had a car and motorcycle stolen, both were found.
The motorcycle was scrapped, but the car had nothing wrong with it except for a broken steering collom. The insurance company as well as the police didn't seem to interested in catching who ever did it, so I guess thieves know the ropes and aren't worried about getting caught.

Mine got stolen, the cops said they were usually recovered in about two weeks and two weeks to the day, it was found. They had not trashed it too bad other than crushing their cigarette butts on the console.

for the dude who had it stolen 3 times: lock it up? lol
Sometimes cars are stolen for the purpose of committing a crime other than car theft (like bank robbery), or teens taking a joy ride. I think most are stolen by professionals though, that strip the parts.
