I remember my dad being in love with this song and playing at every BBQ that summer and made me teach it to all of his friends.
That year was the year of my sweet 16... let's just say...I was called macarena steadily for 2 years and still when people see me.
That song is as bad or maybe worse than teh electric slide...but not as bad as the chicken dance.

I know the Macarena. I took this tour when I went to Egypt and the tour guide said that the ancient Egyptians invented the Macarena, and he showed us paintings on the walls of the ancient Egyptian gods and servants doing the Macarena, which made me laugh!

They used to make us learn this in gym class and perform for the parents...I have it in my head now...thanks a lot.

Can't say that happened.
But when I was in elementary school (I know, you're cringing hearing that) we did it around Christmas time in the school gym. One of the principals dressed up like Santa and did the Macarena with us. Good times, good times...

The Macerena was replaced by the Lambada which was supplanted by lap dancing which was replaced by "Freak Dancing". All mimic sexual intercourse in some way. I'm not sure what could possibly come next.
