f the UN banned fishing of any kind for 2 yrs in Europe so the stocks could replenish, could you live without it? Considering that 90% of the worlds fish is dire straits from over fishing from fishing fleets and corportate trawlers, also the use of illegal netting do you not feel something has to be done before the oceans and seas become barren!

I agree, but a complete ban isn't the answer. There are a huge number of people who make a living from fishing, what would happen to them!

Hello??? Why in the world does anyone think the UN has the power to ban fishing in several countries? That is not what the UN was created for and it is well outside of anything that the UN should be able to do. The UN should be abolished as it is a useless and ineffectual organization.

I could, but the fishing industry would take a hit, Im not sure many people could survive on no income for 2 years.

I haven't eaten fish since i was 6. Can't stand the thought of eating something that has been swimming next to my poo. So guess two years wouldn't harm.
Who would police this policy? How would the fishermen support themselves whilst they couldn't fish and who would stop less regulated states from interfering.

You could just farm fish and replenish the stock that a way.

great idea but such an idea would unballance the scale of economies regarding the fishing industry and open the flood gates to black trade. the irony is fish per kilo use the least amount of energy and resources of all the meats we consume.
you irish? me too.

Why complain about not having fish? There's like another 300,000 different types of food out there.

The UN doesn't have that power. Something should be done but it needs to be sensible. I think you exaggerate the problem.
