I would definantley talk to a doctor. Its probably just a phase though. Are you on any medication that could cause this? I've also read not to eat close to bedtime because that also can cause bad dreams.

There are a lot of things that give you bad dreams. I read about this in a parenting magazine, but obviously you can have nightmares at any age. Avoid eating right before bed, because your food digesting can cause you to either wake up, or sleep a restless sleep, and that's when you remember your dreams, good or bad. Any medications you take can also cause disrupted sleep, also bringing about bad dreams. If you have a dream, and wake up, write it down right then, if you go back to sleep you may forget what it was. You need to find a pattern in your dreams. Did you have a bad exchange with a friend or family member? Did something bad happen, car accident, money troubles, etc. If you have a journal of your dreams, when you go to a counselor they can help you decode your dreams and decide what may be causing them. Just remember, they are ONLY DREAMS, no matter how real they seem. Find comfort in knowing that we all have weird and awful dreams, but then you wake up, and that's all it was, a dream. I hope things ease up for you!

What effect do the dreams have on you. Are you losing sleep? Do you think the dreams mean something? What is the real effect on your life. A person can not control their dreams. However, many times they can make choices about the effects that the dreams have on them. If you are being awakened by your dreams to the point that you are not getting any rest. It might be well to talk to an MD. But the first thing is to think about the dreams and how much is the dream and how much is the effect that the dream has on you.

That's scary!! I, too, have been having nightmares lately. Try to think through your dreams and what they mean. Obviously you mom doesn't really want you to burn her alive, but maybe you feel guilty about something between you and your mother?
Nightmares stem from something. Even if it is as simple as something you ate for dinner. Good luck!

Well nightmares can seem VERY real...I would go see a psychologist, because even though it sounds kind of weird, they could help you figure out what is behind those dreams, and then solve the problem. There's nothing wrong with going to one, and it probably will only take a few appointments!

Improve your diet, don't watch scary things on TV before you go to bed. I've read that the people in your dreams are there because of some aspect of you. If your mom is in your dreams, then whatever quality she reminds you of, it is that quality in you that you are dreaming of. So maybe if you think of her as kind, (or generous, or outgoing, etc), it is that quality in you that you need to work on.
Sweet dreams!

when you wake up with a nightmare, start recreating that dream in your hea, but add a good twist that will send that dream in a possitive direction... usually works... you may be a little stressed it is also recomended to talk to a psychologist

You might be having bad dreams because you worry about something and have too much on your mind.
