is there anybody there who already had gone to the philippines with their cat(dog)?what are the needed papers aside from health certificate?they said i need import permit but the web page of the philippine government agency which is responsible for that is innacessible.can u please help me?ive called the philippine embassy already but they dont know where to get the import permit.im travelling from south korea,were leaving aug.16 2006.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PETS ENTERING THE PHILIPPINES



Secure a Health Certificate issued by a duly licensed veterinarian or the U.S. Department of Agriculture dated not more than 30 days before arrival in the Philippines. It should certify that the animal is free from, and has not been recently exposed to, any dangerous communicable disease, and that is has been given anti-rabies and other required inoculations.

Send/Present the Health Certificate for Certification of Authenticity to any Philippine Consular Office three (3) weeks before shipment. The fee is $25.00 per health certificate. If sent by mail, payment should be made to the order of Philippine Embassy/Consulate in Money Order. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped enveloped for return mail.

Secure an Import Permit by either of the following ways:

Direct application from the Bureau of Animal Industry located at:
Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI)
Animal Health Division
Visayas Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City

The Import Permit may be filed by any party in Manila in behalf of the owner/importer provided that the fee of around P200.00 (US$ 4.00 approx.) is paid and the particulars of the pet (kind, breed, age, etc.) are known to the filer. A copy of the import permit should be faxed to the owner/importer. It should be presented at the airport upon the arrival of the pet. OR

Upon arrival at the airport in Manila by presenting the certified health certificate (refer to nos. 1 & 2 above) to the Quarantine Officer on duty, filing of the required import permit and the payment of the corresponding fee."

If you can find a local military base that has a vet there they can assist you with any papers you might need. Also the korean government has the same paper work in order to bring a pet there and should be able to assist you. Also and another avenue is to contact the US department of agriculture on the net and they can also assist you

Try contacting FEDEX, UPS or DHL - they have facilities for pets and they'll handle everything - from permits to vaccinations etc. Fed ex is the best.
