I will be 39 weeks pregnant Wednesday and have been very anxious about whether or not I will go into labor on my own. I am being induced Monday, August 7th if I do not go into labor on my own this week. This is my second pregnancy and I am 2cm dilated and -1 station as of my last appointment.

I have another appointment tomorrow, August 1, but my doctor will be out of the office so I will be seeing another doctor in the group. Is there anything different I should expect? I am trying to figure out if I have dilated anymore or not also.

I feel your pain sweetie!!! I am due Aug 3. I have only dilated a fingertip!!! I am having a c-section but it is very disappointing for nothing to be happening. I am so miserable!!! When you go to the doctor tomorrow the doctor will check to see if you are dilated. All doctors handle situations differently...you may go tomorrow and the doctor may feel it is time for you to go to the hospital. I am always very anxious about seeing a new doctor...but, you'll be just fine!!! Not much further to go sweetheart! Congratulations!!!

There is really no way to tell if you have dialated; I'm assuming your last appt. was last week, considering the point in the preg., so you could very well dialate to transitional labor (4-5 centimeters), or you could still be at 2 cm and -1 tomorrow. You can always bring up the idea of having the doctor stripping your membranes (some go for this at this point, others don't unless you're late)...all they do is take a couple of fingers and sweep around the bottom of your cervix where the placenta is attatched. Supposedly this is supposed to release a hormone that signals the uterus to contract and get labor to start/progress. With my second, I was 38 wks and 6 days; at that appointment (about 3 in the afternoon) I was about the same you are now (3cm and -2/-1), and the doctor swept my membranes; I was having regular contractions by 7:30-8 that night; being monitored by 9, and being admitted by 10; I had her at 3:40 the next morning (39 weeks exactly)...if you are sick of being pregnant at this point, you could bring this up and see if they are open to the idea.

Just relax and try not to stress about it. Think of it this way, the baby's birthday will be the day it is supposed to be. If it's meant to be before, then it will happen, but if not, it's meant to be August 7. I knew a lady who was dilated just like you, she walked around that way for 3 weeks before finally going into labor naturally. The other Dr. you are going to see should be able to relieve some of your concerns, they've seen pretty much every scenario there is when it comes to pregnant women. Do you know what the baby is? I had the urge to refer to the baby as "she" for some reason.

you should expect the same thing from the other doc as you would with your regualr doc...how long have you been dilated and effaced? I had my daughter at 35 weeks because my water broke and was in the hospital 32 hours before she was born so I'm just speaking from other womens experiences...i work in a hospitals maternity ward

Your HCG stages are to double about each and every 2 days. So if the tighters (HCGs) are turning out to be like they should be, you need to be on the right exhibit screen. You surely not be responsive to what is going to happen, so stay helpful and desire for the pleasant. wonderful of sturdy fortune.
