IN 20 YEARS THE COST OF LIVING INDEX WILL BE WHERE IT SHOULD BE NOW, ABOUT $9.45 FOR MINIMUM WAGES. GAS WILL BE ABOUT $6.00 A GALLON. EXPANDED FREEWAYS MEANS FASTER SPEED LIMITS, 85 MPH. WE WILL BEGIN TO SEE FUTURE EXPLORATION OF OUTER SPACE AS SOMETHING TANGIBLE. THE HEAT WILL BECOME ALMOST UNBEARABLE BECAUSE OF THE FURTHER DEPLETION OF THE OZONE LAYER. I WILL BE TOO OLD TO GIVE A HOOT. THE ECONOMY WILL INCREASE BECAUSE OF THE WAGE INCREASE, BUT THE EARNINGS TO SPENDING RATIO WILL NOT CHANGE MUCH. CRIME WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AS DRUG TRAFFICKING GROWS RAMPANT THROUGHOUT. THE WAR IN DISTANT COUNTRIES WILL BE QUELLED, BUT THERE WILL STILL EXIST SOME REBELS THAT WILL NOT CONFORM TO PEACE. ILLEGAL ALIENS WILL ALSO CONTINUE THEIR QUEST FOR A BETTER LIVING AND FIND DIFFERENT METHODS TO GAIN ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES. THE GOVERNMENT WILL ATTEMPT RUNNING THE HEALTH PROGRAM AS A WAY TO ENSURE THAT ALL AMERICANS ARE INSURED. THERE WILL BE NO MORE HOMELESS PEOPLE, HOUSING WILL BE SECURED THRU THE GOVERNMENT. THERE WILL BE BREAKTHRUS IN MEDICINE, LIKE A CURE FOR CANCER, ALZHEIMER'S, PROSTATE, AND SUCH. MORE PEOPLE WILL BE WEIGHT CONCIOUS.

There world would be much smaller. Transportation & communications between individuals would be done in an matter of minutes. Say max half an hour. People would be stationed indoors for the majority of their lives, due to the convenience of technology. i.e. work from home, party from home (Virtual reality), shop from home.
Business for security would go up proportional to the rate at which technology grows. Gradually there will be more pockets of social unrest, due to the negative influences of technology. E.g. manual labor - replaced, uncontrolled freedom of speech - social disharmony.
Increased number of natural disasters. Slow down sliding of the human populace. The rise of new super powers, in Asia. China, India, & Korea. Increased number of independent states that broke away from their natural country.
The increased attention of human to human or heart to heart dialogues. Society will finally reach a stage when they realise that they have lost the ability to talk to people on a personal level, and there is where an internal human revolution would begin, at an individual level followed by a societal level.
The world would become a truly small globe then.

Generally speaking, people ALWAYS overestimate the future *cough* flying cars *cough*
To answer your question just look at 10-20yrs in the past and thing how much (or little) has changed. While fashion has changed greatly (whew, there was a lot of bad styles in the 80s and 90s) some of the core things haven't.
Instead of boom boxes and cassette walkmans, people carry iPods now. Cars have changed a little bit, but not much.
Honestly the answer to your question is "not much".
Within 10yrs we'll have "internet everywhere" and your iPod will stream your music online, so you won't have to carry it.
