Iran is 90% shia ISLAMICS
IRAQ is 65% shia ISLAMICS
BAHARAIN is 70% shia ISLAMICS
YEMEN is 40% shia ISLAMICS
This is common knowledge , and is a list of nations we as america have diplomatic problems with .
ARE we infact supporting only one side of a holy war that has been going on for hundreds of years .
WE choose a side it seems and all the shia followers of ISLAM are our enemies.
WHY have we adopted this policy of dealing with several country's that have a belief that is as old as ISLAM and the seperation of the 12 tribes of PALESTINE .
WHICH is the center of the ISRAELI conflict in the middle east .
ONE thing all ISLAMICS seem to atleast agree on is ending the state of ISRAEL .
SHIA ISLAMICS TEND to use force more often the SUNNI"S do but both use the same means to achieve a common goal .
THE end to the state of ISRAEL.
HOW can we meet the needs of both ISLAMIC secets sunni and shia when the only thing they agree on is AN end to ISRAEL .HOW do we as a nation remain objective .

its not about religion and one of the reasons we are so disliked by middle east is we change sides constantly. depending on corporate/political need etc. most of our involvement is really around corporate requests money. even who we give charity to.
if someone could have resolved Palestine Israeli issues over land would have been done they tried. maybe someday livens. but remember more killed over (fanatical misuse of ) religion than any other reason. too many people lose brain cells and become narrow minded hateful terrorists when it comes to that.
America does not support one side. even those of us who are not money motivated. we do not support fanaticism and terrorism. even Bush doesn't support that.
nor would anyone with any spirituality ask for an end to another religion. that would be a violation of the principles of any respectful person of any religion.
the world is getting smaller and people have to learn to live together and respect differences. Hitler wanted everyone to be the same and to get rid of all the others. Is that what you want too?

The short answer is that we don't particularly care whether a country is majority Sunni or not. Shiites tend to be significantly more radical than Sunnis. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt are all slowly becoming responsible, civilized members of the world stage, so of course we're going to be closer to them that rogue, pariah states like Iran.

It isn't that Shiites are our enemies as such. It's that they seem to want to be the enemies of civilization and freedom wherever it exists, both inside and outside the Islamic world.

Good point. It does seem that the USA and most other western countries more strongly support Sunni over Shi'a. The one excepetion is that Saddam Hussein was a Sunni and the US attacked and now Shi'a will control that government so what you say is not completely true, but mostly true.
