I'm very socially awkward, I'm trying to change, but I dunno how. Anyone that knows me get surprised how little I make considering the skills and experience I have. I get job interviews because I send my resume a lot, and like I said, I have a lot good work qualities, but when I get the interviews, people just don't like, and don't hire me. I never tell people I go to interviews because I'm embarassed to say I went to 70 interviews in one year to get the job I have now, and I've gone to 30 interviews this year to try and raise my salary, and no luck. Even though I'm the one who works the most here, I'm the one who gets paid the least. My boss hired me when she saw me working at another job, and was loved my work, and was shooked how little I made. So now I work for her, but it's still not what I should be making. She knows how much I have trouble getting a job, so she doesn't she just won't give me a raise. What can I do?

First here are some tips for during the interview.
Smile, have eye contact, sit up straight, dress nice

If you went to 70 interviews, that is alot. Sometimes that happens depedning on the position, but if you admit you are socially awkward, there are probably some things you can do to change your odds.
Do you have a decent hair cut? Nice clothes? Nice shoes?

When they ask you a question, do you answer the question? or do you ramble, stutter, etc

I would be happy to discuss you and your qualifications more if you write your email address to rbseller555@yahoo.com. Send your resume there too.

Think of your top 4 or 5 qualities. Use those qualities in answers to interview questions. Go to a bookstore and buy a book with interview questions (should be in Careers section), and have a friend do a mock interview with you. Firstmost, project confidence. Sit up straight, look the interviewer in the eye. Take a pad and pen with you to write down information. When asked a question that you're not sure of the answer, just pause for 3 seconds to collect your thoughts. Don't say "umm" or "uhhh"...do say "that's a good question". When the interview asks you if you have any questions, ask some! Make sure they are particular to the company. Research the company beforehand (look at their website, their products/services). If you don't ask questions, it makes you look like you're not interested.
Lastly, make sure you send a thank you note immediately after the interview. Highlight any postives from the interview, what you would do for the company.

this is what I look at as an employer: As you enter the room, shake the hand of the interviewer. Sit up stratight and feel proud and sure. You have talent now its time to show it off. Speak clear and smile. show you love your work. It helps to know a bit about the company too. Ask questions about anything you need to know about the position. If you go into the interview knowing you got what they want it will come across as such and that will make you shine. Good Luck, strut it baby.
