Depends totally on how your stomach is upset. If it's about intestines then food with a LOT of fibers is almost every time the best solution.

Soft drinks will only make things worse.

Eat Danon's Activa plain Yogurt.

They are advertising it, and thus far FDA has not stopped them. They recommend eating the yogurt for a week.

My experience is the same any "yogurt that is not pasteurised will do". This is because,Yogurt has beneficial bacteria, the beneficial bacteria along with bad bacteria is destroyed when yogurt is pasteurised. If pasteurised, it should be re-constituted with beneficial bacteria.

A co-worker of mine who travelled a lot for aircraft company, would make it a point of eating his first meal in a visiting country, contained fresh yogurt and he would start his meal with that yogurt, he claims he never has stomach problem when away on call in any country.

Hope it works for you.

When you feel like eating go with a bland diet: rice, apple sauce, toast, bananas, scrambled eggs (without a lot of fat added) and broth based soups. Stay away from dairy and fatty foods as they are likely to make your stomach more upset.

The sap contains 'lactucarium', which is used in medicine for its anodyne, antispasmodic, digestive, diuretic, hypnotic, narcotic and sedative propertiesLactucarium has the effects of a feeble opium, but without its tendency to cause digestive upsets

Avoid spicy food.
Eat easily digestible food in small quantity at a time and more time.
Take plenty of non-aerated liquid - preferably lemon, sugar and with a pinch of salt in water.
Avoid refined food but take food with lot of natural cellulose which keeps the bowel movement.
In South India we take plain rice with fresh curd/butter milk(Yoghurt)

my doctor says to go on the BRAT diet when your stomach is upset. Bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast are all supposed to be good foods to eat to settle your stomach.

Milk is a really bad idea if your stomach is upset. Ginger ale and Coke are good (regular, not diet), but they should be flat, not too bubbly.

I've found that eating scrambled eggs with buttered toast works well, as well as saltine crackers...But the use of seven-up really works for upset tummies as well...
