Don't think so. All my fun exploits in Vegas usually get mentioned to friends because if first timers don't know how much fun you can have there, what's the use clamming up and not letting them know? Great marketing campaign, but seems to be directed towards meet market denizens, swingers, flingers and one night standers..... It's true that the losing of money would be the only thing staying there.

But the reason for the expression is - if you mess up and do something that would hurt someone at home - its YOUR error - they shouldnt pay for it.
