Only if the Vatican says so. Then again, the Da Vinci Code claims to be a work of fiction, so it's author never intends to counter anyone's beliefs, just write a good story. It would be different if it were a non-fiction book (holy blood, holy grail), but it's not, it's fiction, make believe, imaginary, so it doesn't really matter if it's against the bible or not.
If you really want to know if the Da Vinci Code is against the Bible, I suggest you read both and then make up your own mind.

It is definitely against the bible. The bible actually says that Jesus did not have kids. "In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." Acts 8:33. And even though the Da Vinci code is fiction, some people will say that its true.

Dan Brown wrote the DaVinci Code as a novel. A work of fiction. As with any work of fiction, you take some elements of truth and add the necessary fiction to create your story.
People who are truly skilled at lying will tell you that the best way to make someone believe your lies is to add just enough truth and things they already believe in, to make them think that the rest of what you're saying is true, too. It works even better if your subject is one that people aren't very educated about.
Writing a work of fiction can often be compared to lying in that manner, but you have less control over who your audience will be.
Dan Brown had to know that most of the people reading his book would not be overly familiar with the hierarchy of the Catholic church, and simply because of it's antiquity, there would be suspicion and speculation. These are things he used as tools in writing his story. It enabled him to manipulate his readers and make his story more engrossing. Any good writer wants his readers to be engrossed in what they're reading.
There is a huge desire in the world today to find conspiracy and intrigue in the world around them, especially the parts of their lives that they have limited information about. Mr. Brown used this as a tool in writing his book, also.
He took the world's already developed suspicion of the Catholic church, played on everyone's love of a good conspiracy theory and mystery, and created a work of fiction that grabbed more attention than he ever thought possible. He had a best seller on his hands.
It really isn't his 'fault' that the old liar's theory worked so well. People, especially those without the education in certain areas to know better, took that book to heart and many decided that it could really be true. The world started treating it as though he'd written a thesis based on fact, and that's where all the uproar began.
The DaVinci Code isn't against the Bible. It isn't against the Catholic church. It isn't even against Jesus. It's just a novel. Just a story a man made up in his head to entertain other folks with.

It is a story written for entertainment. If you look into the details you find that the arguments used to support the idea of the book is incorrect. Is it against the Bible, no. Does it contradict what the Bible says happened, yes.

da vinci code is just a writers interpretation of the events of the past and it is made to be a great thriller...we do not know what happened in the past and cannot be sure about anything...maybe god did want a female heir and maybe he did believe that woman was superior to man or not...nobody is to judge...in the past people have believed with surety that sun revolved around earth but then it was refuted...so lets just believe in the preachings and teachings of Jesus rather than debate about his predecessors...spread love and happiness...

Its fiction. Its just a theory the guy used to put a twist on things to make good reading. Frankly it has nothing to do with the bible. If you find yourself questioning your beliefs after watching this movie, I think maybe you have some serious issues to look into regarding your beliefs. Again, its just fiction. Totally unreal.

Even if the theories behind it were true, it wouldn't contradict anything in the Bible, just what tradition became after it was written. It does not say anywhere in the Bible that Jesus was celibate, unmarried, or childless. It is completely silent on his personal life. We know that he had several brothers and sisters, but we do not even know all of their names. It wasn't even required of early popes to be celibate--many early popes were married and/or had children.

It's fiction and found in the fiction section of the bookstore. I don't know why so many church's made a big deal out of a fictional thriller. It's probably what made it a best seller.
