I started working here 18 months ago, I loved my salary. As soon as I got in, I realized my co-workers were real real jerks. It didn't take me 3 month before I started sending out resumes everywhere. I'm 24 year old college dropout, and the interviews didn't go well, no one seemed to think there was any reason, after 6 months and me getting along even worse with my co-workers, I started asking jsut to macth my salary, but no one seems to think I'm worth what I'm getting paid here, some would take me if I accept working for less. I dunno what to do, I'm sick of working here. Me not getting along with the people here doesn't interfere with my work, but I'm sick of eating by myself, and being here and no one talking to me at all. It's long story, I've worked other places before, and I never had this problem with people, these people are just jerks. What can I do? no one wants to match my salary, and I can't afford living with less money.

Funny you should mention not having a friend at work - the Gallup organization says having one is the single best indicator of morale in the workplace.

Anyhoo.

One thing that might be a problem for you is badmouthing your current organization or the people there. At your next interview, make sure that you don't say anything about your current coworkers other than "We have some personality conflicts" or "I'm not a big fan of the current culture there." Leave it at that, if you even go that far.

First off you need to examine what you can actually afford to live on. If you hate that job so much why are you still there? one reason. Money. You need to prioritize your standards.

What's more important to you...having a high paying job that you hate which you will eventually get fired from or quit anyway or having a great job you love with awesome coworkers but getting paid less.

Sometimes the money is not worth the headache. You're probably going home miserable every night and dreading to go to work the next day because of the people you work with.

I say call back those potential employers (the one offering the most of course) tell them you want the job. then give in your 2 week notice stating the reason why without giving names or being a jerk about it and then in your last 2 weeks re-examine you financial needs. Make a financial plan for yourself so that you can live on less money.

Life is too short to be so damn unhappy all the time..especially at work!

Have a good one and good luck!

Maybe you're the one who needs to change his attitude. Just go to work (since you like your job/salary), smile and say good morning/afternoon/evening to these "jerks" on a daily basis. Stop acting like everyone is out to get you. This is a professional work place where discrimination should not be allowed. If you feel singled out, go to human resources with your problem and let them know what's going on. To deal with your co-workers, just kill them with kindness...be nice, 'til you can't be nice anymore, then STILL be even nicer! They won't know how to deal with you acting so nice despite all their efforts to make you miserable everyday. That's the best medicine they could possibly get, you being extremely friendly, it's called Karma. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Misery loves company, so if you give into them and their behavior, you're doing exactly what they expect you to do, so DON'T! Just smile in passing no matter what is said/not said, be good to people and that's all you can do. Don't leave a job you like just cause your co-workers stink. You can't control others' actions, but you can go home with dignity everyday knowing YOU were a good person despite their actions. God Bless and have a wonderful day!

Start your own business by working from home!

I currently work from home. I left my job just over a month ago now. I really hated my job but stuck to it just until I could get my own thing sorted.

I am currently doing affiliate marketing. Basically I build websites and then sell other ppls stuff through them and earn a commission on everything I sell.

Before I started I had no idea how to build websites but I bought a program called site build it! I currently run 5 websites and have been doing this for a full year before I decided to leave my job. I have not looked back since :)

It is good that you are still there because your next employer will be impressed that you stayed at one job for a while. I had a similar problem myself, but I go to lunch by myself everyday also. You are not alone, hang in there. Bring an mp3 or ipod, magazines, newspapers, anything to occupy yourself during breaks. Keep submitting your resume, don't give up. Monster.com and career builder are excellent sights for getting potential interviews. Keep putting your time in and keep submitting your resume. Don't give up! Someone will call and be very impressed by your resume. The only reason why you haven't been hired for another job yet is because the right one for you hasen't come along yet. Your time will come, be patient and dilligent! The right job is coming your way because you want it and deserve it!

I find myself in a somewhat similar situation...been here for 3 1/2 years...it's not that I don't like the people here, but at the same time, this whole town is like the twilight zone...I've been searching for a job closer to where I live...but I have the problem of making good money here and hard to find something else making the same amount of money. Sorry, I can't off you much advice, but I can definitely sympathize with you!

It took me 11 months to find a good job.

Stick with your crappy job and keep job hunting. Be relentless.

It's a game of numbers. If you send out 10 resumes every day ( 5 days a week) that's 50 applications... Over the course of a year, this is more than 2500 applications.
Someone will bite...

Trust me- keep trying - you are a fit for a job out there somewhere. Get the classifieds every day. Post the resume on 5 or more jobboards (like Monster.com). There are a ton of them. Try a local job board. I live in NJ and there are NJ only job boards online. Apply to large companies on their websites. (I work for J&J...)

Eventually, persistance is rewarded. It's sort of like becoming a stalker. If you want it bad enough, it will happen for you .

Good luck!

Work this part time until the money starts rolling in. If you like helping people, this is great.
When you reach Gold level you car and house are paid for.
Don't tell me you don't like pyramids, because EVERYBODY works with one, in 1 form or the other.
Example:
You -- President of Company
Sign Up -- Vise President
2 more Sign ups -- Managers
4 more sign ups -- Assistant Managers
6 more sign ups -- Supervisors
You Get the money They get the money
You win They Lose

Stick it out as long as you can...meanwhile, try to finish your degree, take out a loan if you must, that seems to be your biggest obstacle... and if they happen to have tuition reimbursement milk them for all they're worth...

I don't know what field your in but start networking immediately...talk to everyone you know...tell them what you're looking for in a company without really whining or complaining too much about where you are...Same for interviews...don't complain about where you are, just say that you're looking for a change or a new opportunity...

At work, "F" them...go out for lunch...meet people at the local deli...chat someone up at the park...It's hard to be miserable at work, but I'm sure everything will work out in the end...

well if its not interfearing with your work, than just simply ignore the fact that they are all jerks, that would be simply the only thing i could say because youve tried different places but they all didnt accept you. Maybe, just simply ask your boss whats going on or something, be the adult and talk about it with your boss, are there different departments at your work?, if so ask him if you can move to a different one. Just remember be the adult, if your getting paid good, its worth being around jerks.
