As long as I don't turn the air on the car runs fine. I have a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier. It was bought brand new. When it was just 3yrs old I had to get a fuel pump installed. Just got an oil change 2wks prior to it turning off.
Before it turns off it sounds like it seems to loose power and then BAM it just shuts down.

have your battery and alternator it sounds like to much energy is being used, but this should never be a problem unless the is a charging system problem

First start the vehicle, then put it in drive, then turn the a/c on.
If it acts like it wants to stall , hold one foot on the brake , one on the gas give it a little gas . If it stays running by doing this , you'll need to have your throttle body and "Idle control valve" cleaned.
The cleaner can be bought at your local auto parts.
Now if it still stalls after giving it some gas ,you have a more serious problem. Possible compressor

If your engine quits when you turn on the air, you might have a problem with your low idle solenoid. When the air compressors kicks on, your engine RPMs have to increase to provide the extra power. That means the idle has to go up. Try pushing just a little on the gas when you turn the air on. This one likely calls for a good mechanic.

i had the sam problem with my van. it sounds like it has something to do with your compressor

if i were you, id get it to the mechanic for a diagnostic check just to be sure.

you dont want that car to decide to shut down on you as you are turning in a busy intersection or something heaven forbid.

i guarantee it the compressor though.

good luck! =)

is your service engine now lights on? if they are, take it to autozone and they will tell you the problem fgor free. now your problem does not seem to be with your fuel delicvery system. i believe its the ignition system. get new spark plugs in it and while your at it get new spark plug wires. shouldnt cost you much and its very easy to put them on if you get the rench for your sparkplugs. autozone can help you find the items. good luck
