My ex-wife of thirteen years was a psychiatrist, and I know a thing or two that explains it.

Deep down inside, even the most fervent GW Bush supporter knows the man is an imbecile. They project his worst qualities onto Bubba, the things they know deep down inside are true about Bush.

We all know that when Clinton left office, he gave Dubya a really serious lecture about al Qaida, and said that intercepted phone and email messages say that something very big is up, and probably very soon, and it may involve civilian airliners being hijacked. Bush ignored this most dire warning, and actually pretty much laughed it all off.

So when it happens, the only way for the Bush folks to sleep at night is to blame 9/11 on Bubba. "It's all his fault, it wouldn't have happened if blah-blah-blah-Clinton had blah-blah-blah."

Clinton left us with a half-trillion dollar surplus. In five years, Bush has us at an eight-trillion dollar deficit, which is more than all other presidents combined have spent. "We're better off and we have all this money now that we finally got rid of that wife-cheating blah-blah-blah..."

Now the war in Iraq is not going very well, we're getting farther and farther in debt and the tax breaks are still happening, which does not compute, and only the mega-rich are really benefitting at all from this presidency. We're all overworked, overstressed, living in a constant state of fear, and our security and our stature in the world community have never even been close to this low before. Practically every good thing is at an all-time low and everything bad is at an all-time high. This is a lot to deal with, especially when it's your people up there causing it. And lying about it and white-washing it and covering it up with spin, spin, spin.

Other than the Lewinsky thing, everything and anything that Bill Clinton can be criticized for is several times more true for Dubya.

It's not easy having eyes and not seeing and having ears and not hearing and being able to read and not understanding. The mind must either accept the truth or it must derail somewhere and shift all the blame, shame, and fear elsewhere. And since we no longer have a democratic president, a democratic Senate, a democratic Congress, or even a democratic Supreme Court, all the Bush people have is the past, which is Bill Clinton.

And that is the Clinton-Bashing 101 lesson for today.

(And I am not a democrat. I believe in progressive parties.)

The history books are just being writen on the Clinton years. Frankly he's going to come up short, and that is not bashing. For those with selective memories, the guy was hated as much as many seem to feel about our current president. He Still is one of only two presidents to be Impeached while in office. Most of his fans tend to tout the great economy of the 1990's as his great accomplishment & the passage of NAFTA. That how ever was based largely on the tech boom & the rise of the net. When that bubble burst, so did the enconomy. His personnel choices for his adminstration were questionable. 4 different Sec of Def., A former DNC chair as Sec.of Commerce. And Jannet Reno, sweet Jesus....
His Overseas policy was a mixed bag as well. While his efforts in Northern Ireland and in the Dayton Accords & good Russian relations were highpoints. The list of bad ones is long: Haiti, North Korea, Somolia, Cuba, Kosovo, & stopping terrorism are just as start.
So it's a mixed bag on the guy & Have not even said anything about Monica or even Wacco...

I am not the biggest Clinton fan myself, though I do think it's funny that so many Bush supporters like to say that we have to support the president unconditionally, but would oppose any action of Clinton (whether it was important or not). They'll point out a million security failures, etc. of the Clinton administration but are so blind to the actions, lies and crimes of other administrations which they support. I have actually heard idiot people say, "Yea, Bush lied about WMD in Iraq, but at least he didn't get caught ******g Monica Lewinsky and embarass the country," as if that comparison makes any sense.

Because nothing happens in a vacuum... we face many of the problems that we face currently because Clinton chose not to deal with problems, especially if they would negatively impact his approval ratings... He was more worried about being seen positively by the polls than doing anything meaningful or taking any kind of forceful or decisive actions.

He was asleep at the switch when it came to dealing with all of the terrorism, he sold secrets to North Korea and China, and then to cover his tracks, he had one of his underlings instigate a policy of the CIA and FBI completely disassociating from each other, which really blew up in our collective faces on 9/11. Then, to show total contempt for this country, he finagles on to the 9/11 commission that same woman who drew up this policy - so she can criticize the Bush administration for allowing the CIA and FBI to be so independent of each other... At no time is he interested in having the country's needs or issues supersede his need to hang onto his approval ratings...

And that's just one example, there are so many others... the guy is shameless, and is responsible for many of the problems that we face today, especially in the area of national security...

I agree with you, however I think it goes both ways. I am constantly frustrated by the way people on both sides of the political coin refuse to see any good in the other side. It's totally "republican good.....democrat bad" or vice versa. No wonder people from other countries think we're a bunch of rubes. It seems like very few people think for themselves...they let their chosen political party dictate their every thought. Use your brains, people ! Both sides have some really good points. If we took the best from each, we'd have a great government. I guess I'm a dreamer, though.

Clinton was one of the most effective presidents ever. He balanced the Budget, created Americorp, and continues to fight the Aids epidemic among his many accomplishments.
Alas, the Republicans are very effective in criticizing the strengths of progressives like Clinton.

Not bad! A criminal and a traitor to his country, but not bad! He gave missile guidance technology to China for campaign money, nuclear tech to North Korea that they now use to threaten the world with, and passed on taking Bin laden into custody and allowed the '93 Twin Tower bombings to be dismissed as a criminal act and not what it was...An Act Of War From Terrorists Against America!

They're just jealous, not only was Bill charming, lucky with the ladies and an excellent public speaker...he was a good leader...one that actually deserved to be elected twice...not one that has a 30-40% approval rating and is magically serving his second term...rather pathetically I might add...I suppose it will be interesting to see what he does after his presidency is over...but my guess it'll be the same thing he's doing now...vacation at the ranch...

firstly bill i did no longer locate and could never locate him to be a sturdy president. He cared no longer something for the persons. As for Obama you could tell it fairly is a guy of the persons. As for the clinton bashing. you could no longer blame human beings this is getting difficult. She lost and easily refuses to circulate away. incredibly as quickly as she steps aside gracefully and endorses Obama then you certainly will see the bashing supply up. What else can human beings do to coach her she can not and could no longer win!?
