It appears to citizens of other countries that Americans are very narrow focused. They fail to realize that there are other people & countries with real lives & problems other than theirs.

Some foreign citizens hate Americans, some Americans hate Americans. From what I've gathered from my "foreign" friends most say they like America just not Bush's policies on many subjects ranging from the Iraq War to denial of global warming. Some hate because there are some arrogant Americans who when visiting other countries choose not to respect the culture, very understandable in my mind.

It isn't a recent development. It originated with the "Ugly American" stereotype, most prominent in and around the 1970s. Economically wealthy Americans would go to other (usually third-world) nations and proceed to establish absentee corporations. These corporations would have local laborers working below-minimum wage, often forced to spend their money at the company shops, effectively keeping all the earned money out of the foreign nation's economy. To make matters worse, these Americans formed the stereotype of the rude, "Can't anyone speak English?", Dollar-waving gringo. Thankfully, these types aren't as ubiquitous today as they were back then, which will hopefully lead to us shedding that negative image.

I would have thought that part of it might be because of how
"LIBERATED" americans are... They use the freedom of speech alot... They are loud... Foreign countries might not be allowed to be so "liberal" in their own countries, and may think that american ways are disrespectful. I live in Australia and my manager is Indian. When she first arrived here, she couldnt get over the "casual-ness" that is in a work place. Im india, she says that you dont speak directly to management, you must go thru the ranks to communicate with the bosses.
I find americans a little bit too PATRIOTIC, however I find it quite admirable as well.

That is a stereotype of people, I travel a great deal outside of USA, I have not encountered people that hate Americans, right now there is a doubt about our government bec of Bush and his recent activities but take that away and Americans are well love and respected in many parts of the world.

sure. It relies upon on the country in question. on social gathering, US voters residing in overseas countries ought to correctly be required to serve in that united states of america's military, once they have been resident for a particular era of time. the U. S. authorities recognises that this takes position - and could no longer eliminate US citizenship because a US citizen has served in a overseas military. even if, if both countries went to conflict then you somewhat may be uncovered to accusations of treason. for that reason, US voters are strongly recommended no longer to enlist with overseas militaries - even if you does no longer unavoidably jeapordise your citizenship in case you probably did so. on condition that the U. S. army is the second one appropriate in the international (after the Royal army for sure ;) ), one may ask your self why everyone ought to choose to affix a overseas army even if... the most properly-conventional (even if non-naval) social gathering is one among the French overseas Legion - which will take recruits from everywhere in the international.

I don't hate Americans, on the contrary. I may disagree with a country's foreign policy but that's no reason to hate its citizens.

we are @sses who impose our will on other people. Many times the people we are "liberating" don't want us there or our help. We need to keep our noses out of things unless asked to help
