Sometimes, they are lacking something in their marriage. Also, instead of communicating with their wife and telling them how they feel they go and mess around in the wrong way. Husbands and wifes should always be honest and open with one another during their problems or thoughts of infidelity. If communication was better between them, maybe this wouldn't happen. Sometimes men just think with the wrong head !

I read some of the answers and I really can't agree totally with them. Men (and women) cheat on their significant other whether married or in a relationship because they have no morals. Society today has played the biggest part corrupting the morals we should all have instilled in us. I really don't think men/women don't love their partner, nor is it grass is greener thing. I truly believe it's because we can and it's available. With the free love in the 60's and bordello's since time began and let's face it prostitution whether it's for $10 a trick or the higher class $500 an hour escort service "WE" society have made a mockery of the institution of trust and honor in relationships. No matter how much you love another the temptation is out there. It may start as "My wife doesn't understand me" or "I need more physical attention in my life" to as little as "He's away for a business trip", "The kids are getting to me" and the most common "Our eyes met across the room and I just needed to meet to see if this might have been my soul mate in another time." Most of these instances are one timers and never meant to hurt the partner.

This question probably needs a book to address the different reasons but lets quickly go through a few to cut a long story short:
1- Instinct - some say man has a builtin instinct that pushes him to mate with as many females as he can
2- Sex becomes boring after a while and a new lay is the perfect answer for boredom
3- in certain cases the wives put on weight, lose their sex appeal after having kids etc and she in no longer as sexy or as appealing to her husband who wants a sexy little vixen
4- Men tend to treat sex as a more casual encounter between 2 consenting adults. Women tend to tie sex & love together. Men therefore go out and cheat because it is simply a pleasure and not about falling out of love with his spouse.

Grass is always greener on the other side would be one reason. Should have posed that question to both men and women - both cheat.
Sweet revenge is when they do jump the fence and found out that they made a mistake, now they have neither the new woman or the wife / girlfriend cause of this stupid mistake.

For the same reason women cheat on their husbands. somethings is lacking in the relationship and they are not communicating. If both would try hard to make the other happy in whatever way was needed, there would be less people cheating.

not sure. sometimes i think of other women. i mean, my wife is awesome...a former model. we were at a water park and i was sitting there watching my wife and boys playing in the water and then my mind and eyes start to roam the wave park and seeing lots of fat gross men and women and then i find myself looking for hot senuous women...and i'm finding a few and looking at them and thinking, i'd like to have sex with her or her or her. and tehn i see my wife and kids again.
i'm not sure why. is it a hormone or a flaw in the mind.
Jesus said if we lust even in our eyes and mind, we've comitted sin...so i sinned and prayed about it.
i do try to block the porn on our PC and don't look at dirty magazines or sexy commercials on TV. but sometimes that's a turn on.

Good question esp. when my husband has been cheating on me and that the 19 yr old GIRL supposedly looks somewhat like me....Yet he now wants a divorce kicked me and our child out to eventually move her in. MEN ARE SCUM!!:'(

To satisfy his lust and thinks it's ok as long as the wife doesn't know about it. It's the same as stealing.....it's ok as long as he is not found out. These sort of people do not have strong sense of morals or ethics.

it isn't just men that cheat..women do it too
I think there are alot of reasons why.....it depends on the person.......you should be asking the person that cheats
