Why do men think farting ( passing wind, letting off, trumping) is so funny?

I know its a natural bodily reaction and we can't help it - but why do men have to have competitions on who is the loudest and smelliest?

I think they find it funny because it grosses people out and makes a weird noise. I find it absolutely disgusting though! Fair enough, I understand its gotta be done but why not be a bit more discreet about it instead of choosing to ignite it or do it in the direction of your mates. I was once seeing a guy and I went round to his house for the first time. We were in his living room and I was talking to his mum and he stood in the door way, lifted his right leg and did a massive, loud fart!! It completely repulsed me - the relationship didn't last much longer!!

Well my dear, us men enjoy a good fart because it's a time honored tradition. It's a talent we've honed since we first learned what a fart was. Passed from generation to generation. You haven't lived til you've put a lighter to your butt, and farted on it in a completely dark room.. it's great. We do it, not for the glory, not for the applause... but for the love of the fart and everything it symbolizes. There's no greater satifaction (besides sex) than eating a beans, knowing full well that in 2 hours d-day is coming.. and we'll be able to drop bombs on command. We also do it to get rid of people we don't want to be around.. but mostly for our own amusement and the amusement of our fellow farters..

Try it sometime, let go of your inabitions, free your mind and your sphincter from the bonds of society..!!

I actually don't. I might laugh in certain situations because sometimes it is just funny (especially when someone who 'dosn't do taht sort of thing' does) but in general there's a time and a place. ANOTHER ROOM! I mean you never know what it's gonna smell like!
