Why do people ask this all the time? How can a cartoon be sexy? And why does knowing that a compilation of body parts drawn by other people is considered sexy make them feel so much better? Comments on this here.

I agree with that one person that the people thinks it looks like them and wants to see if you think it [So they know in person the are cute ] So it makes them feel better about themselves when ever they say "YES, you have a hot avatar" Thinking that ,that person was saying they were hot !

In serious reply, I guess some people who are not confident approaching people, try to make their avatar as close to them as possible, and if people regard their avatar as attractive, then maybe they will get a personal confidence boost as well!

Your question is a good one. It reminds me of when answering machines first came out and people would say "call my machine check out my message dude!" yuk yuk. Like downloading (AND paying for) backgrounds for your cell phone. Who cares?

It's like dating....when someone pretends to be what their 'object of affection' desires....it's pointless because if they like who you are pretending to be, then they still don't know you & they like 'who you wish you were'!
