if you know longer are going to use the outlet gas pipe them it would be the best idea to cap the pipe, you need to buy the cap and fixing from major diy stores sell them .switch or turn supply off first then remove the cooker remove any paint and grease from the pipe work and fit the new fixing. place the cap then tighten the fixing, finish the job off by checking the seal is secure, then return the gas supply

first. has teh cooker got a bayonet fixing. its between the flexi pipe and the hard copper pipe. if so, it turns anticlcokwise and is self sealing. you dont need a gas fitter to change your cooker. phone the gas people...as opposed to a gas fitter. or ask a plumber.

If it has the bayonet type fitting is easy as taking out a lightbulb, screw in fiiting , get a gas engineer.
