Because women generally have a bigger potential for love, and just because they love their friends to the point they feel like calling them "girlfriends", it doesn't mean that they're lesbian. But men usually don't fall in love with their friends that much, so if they call them "boyfriends", everybody's gonna think they're gay.

Actually you could...but it would raise a few eyebrows. When a guy says friends, homeys, or pal it is understood to be a male friendship. When it comes to girls...they are your girlfriend...and then you have to jump through hoops to explain that she is just a pal...not your love interest. There was a time when opposite sex friendships were frowned upon and often under suspicion. It's a throw back to the fifties...and it just never changed.

Wait a minute, that 'girlfriend' thing started in the black culture. If the crackers are using it, then they stole it from the sista's. And that's a fact, jack! Why can't these cracker women get their own identity? Before you know it, they'll be wearing dreadlocks. Well, they looked pretty good on Bo Derek! Yada! Yada! Yada!

Girls are the best out of both genders! LoL We can do Anything.
PLUS Guys being All "Yeah, I'm going to go hang out with my boyfriends tonight" does sound sort of creepy! You could just say "The Guys" and it sounds way better!

Because guys are too woried about sounding gay.
for example me and my girl mates always say "love you" n give eachother a hug before we go and always call eachtother and everyone "hun" "bbz""sweeite" ect.,once i said it to my new bf's mate and asked them if they loved eachother they took about 10min going on about " well luv as in L U V but not love like..." its like what?!,get over it,know that neither of you are gay so just say it or stop being so pathetic their excuse " lasses are more like that, and can get away with saying anything but lads focus on things like football" or watever, its like lads dont know how to open up to eachother either.

because if they say "boyfriend" then people are going to think that you guys go out...because you are the opposite sex. but "girlfriend" is a different story, a girlfriend is considered a friend becase they are the SAME sex and they are "friends".

so the only reason why girls call their friends girlfriend is because they are the same sex;they are friends of the same sex.

but they wont call BOYS "boyfriends" because you are the opposite sex and if she calls you a boyfriend, then people will think that you two go out.

okay?!....bye!
