Its not that they are not allowed to feed them if they do they taken legal responsability for them and because they are so unfed could be prosecuted for animal cruelty.
I think every one including the goverment, rscpa and local council should be ashamed of them selves. There is a farmer who wants to help but cant cause if he is prosecuted he will no longer be able to keep his farm.
In this day and age it is disgusting and if i lived closer i would feed the poor things and take whats coming to me but cause a massive fuss at the same time

I am sorry, there isn't much you can do about it, if the authorities can't. Make a petition, talk to the farmers through a phone, something like that.
BTW, everyone, unless you are rich, there is no way you can give those cows hay even if you sneak. Do you have any idea how much alfalfa is? Mostly all you will find is small squares. about (depends) anywhere from $3.50 to $5.50. IT will take ALOT of hay to feed those starving cows for even a month. Not to mention you have to have equipment to hall them and then feed them. unless you are thinking about handling those 50 lb bales. They will need (considering they are starving they might eat more) 30 bales for less than a week.

If America, I can hardly believe that story since It would be all around the news and PETA with any other Animal Rights activist would be on it.
However, those in prison should be starved. Yet, not shot since they need to die the way they treated the cows.

I would sneak over there and feed them. That isnt right. Animal Shelters or animal hospitals should be able to go there. At least where I live if an owner goes to jail or something, the animals get taken away and go to better homes. I would do something about it, not let them suffer for something they didnt do. That makes me so angry, people are horrible.

Hello fairycakes - hows the mother in law, hope you have sorted something out and that it has worked out well for you.
About the cows they should just give them away to other farmers to keep, if the owners were criminals then their belongings should be taken by the state. Rough justice for the animals again!

Authorities and Charities not allowed, not true...ever watched Animal Cops, AC Houston, AC Detroit? They are always giving food to the animals...they can't remove them w/o a seizure warrant.

I would call the ASPCA nearest to where you live and tell them about it. Maybe they can help since the law enforcement caint help. Thats stupid. The cain't just let the animals die. That's animal curelty by just letting them starve to death. You can look that number up online.

the owners should take some responsibility and sign over the cattle to the authority/charities so that their animals do not suffer.
Failing that anyone should just feed them!

Worcestershire County Council have gone mad in their efforts to become a bureacracy. Who brought the prosecution against the farmers?? They should have made arrangements.
Anyone living in Worcestershire should be haranguing their councillors and MPs over this nonsense.

I just watched this on the news.
It's awful. The newsreader said that the bridle path had now been closed to stop people from going up and feeding them.
