No other 12 year old gets 1,000 a week. That's $52,000 a year.

You need to get serious about it, work hard and "then" ask him to start paying you. Just like on a real job you have to prove it to him.

I know, my dad had a business when I was growing up. He still sees you as a little kid.

I learnd this just by chance. I got bored just goofing around doing nothing at his business and started working with one of the employees. I started doing this every day just becasue it was more fun than doing nothing. He noticed it and started paying me. Then I started moving up to other jobs.

He is looking for this in you... he just doesn't know it and you don't know that is what he really wants... he probably thinks it will happen much later.

You need to find something that you want to buy but he won't give you the money for. If that's not an issue then you're screwed. Tell him you want to start saving up for that one thing. Don't pick something real expensive. Ask him to pay you for the 'job' instead of by the hour, day, week or month. Have him pick a job, and accomplish it. Go to him and get paid on the spot and put it in your pocket. Ask for the next job.

That also works.

Really it is up to you. Do you want to work in your fathers business. Maybe is is grooming you for that by taking you to the job sites etc. I don;t know what kind business he owns but there are child labor laws to consider and at 12 I think you are little to young to be working for pay in what sounds like a construction company. You are the only one who can decide and you have 6 years yet and you will probably change your mind 6 different times if not more.

At your age, he's teaching you responsibility! Most kids your age have none and don't even have chores to accomplish. It is one of the main weak points in parenting today. Your Father loves you enough to teach you what work is really like... and to spend time with you! Enjoy it, learn it, go to college and become a contributing member of society!
