Fashion comes within you.If you feel good in a dress, you will make it work to look good on you.If you pick a dress someone tells you to and are self concious in it,you will not look good in it because you dont feel good. You wear what makes you happy reguardless as to what people say. They arent you,You cant please everyone but you can please yourself.Pick out a dress that you feel good in,it will show on the outside too.

Since you're lean (do you mean thin or just lean?), you have a lot of options.

Do you want to look a little less lean? Kind of hard to know exactly how to help you since you're not giving many details. What are your best body features: small waist, long legs, nice shoulders and/or neck? Accentuate your best features and play down those that aren't your best.

Colors that go well with your skin tone: various shades of blues and pinks would be flattering; black; white. Not sure about yellows/oranges/greens.

Casuals: jeans and t's are always good for warm weather; khakis/sweatshirts for cooler. Accessories: earrings are always fine and some kind of bracelet or bangles. A wristwatch is a nice accessory (I know cell phones have the time!).

Party wear: dresses/nice skirts with sweaters or blouses that are detailed with little touches such as a pattern you like, lace, ruffles, shirring. Jewlery that's less casual, like gold/silver tones. In order to make yourself look less lean, if that's your aim, the skirts/dresses don't have to be clingy, but can be fuller and with details around the waist and/or hips.

Formal: even dresser than above. Not sure exactly what occasions this would include, but maybe proms or fancy parties (like a New Year's Eve).

Shoes would have to be appropriate for the occasion: whatever brand of lace-up sports shoe in neutral colors; slides, wedges, flats are all good casual choices. For party, heels, mules (backless shoe with little heels and some details: lots out now with beads, sequins, etc.) For formal: heels can be higher and maybe in gold, silver, or a colored leather that coordinates with your outfit.

Purses: for casual can be hobo style, or pouch, or tote. For party/formal: smaller, fancier in a nicer fabric.

Remember that accessories shouldn't overpower the outfit itself.

Not sure how helpful I've been.

if your body type is lean & long...try to create curve and waistline with a wrap dress. The length should be just below the knee. Black is always formal but if you wear it with a jean jackets it will look casuals. It's all about the accessories (jewelry, belts & shoes), Brown & bronze colors will look good too. Go out shopping & try different styles & colors.. look for a good fit first! Have fun.
