Should I vote like many Americans do and base all my trust in a political party? Or should I vote based on the issues, how they are handled, and the best candidate? Would I be a liberal if I did that and didn't belong to a political party, specially republican?

Voting does no good. Especially now that a lot of it is done by computers. The winner of the election knows he won a week before voting even starts!!

Vote for the candidate that best matches your positions - especially those positions that mean the most to you. You could also vote based on voting against someone whose positions you vehemently disagree with.

I will take this opportunity to remind you to take all the campaign speeches and sound bites with a 5 lb bag of salt - they are not necessarily true. It is ear candy - empty gum-flapping. Also remember that debates are made-for-TV theatricals and do not necessarily prove anything but who has better writers and who is a better actor - not necessarily indications of a good president.

Also look at the overall political party platforms - these spell out the general beliefs and guiding principles of the respective parties.

As for being a 'liberal' just for voting in a conscienscious manner, no, you would not be. But make sure to look at the big picture, not just one issue.

I am a independent. I don't belong to any party. I vote for the person not the party. I like some of each party so I vote for them. I do vote for more Republicans because they support the same way of life as I do. I can spend my money better then the government can.If I want my money to support people who do not help themselves ,I will give them some help. But that is my choose not Washington's.
