For me it has to be photo's because they capture perfectly for good or bad a moment in time .When we look at a photo we remember that family gathering or wedding or being on that holiday, they are visual memory aids which stir our sense of joy or sadness, they capture the essence of nostalgia.
As the saying goes "a picture is worth 1000 words" so every photo is a story on its own !

I prefer to look at old photos because you have the option of flipping through the book faster or slower, depending on how long you want to see the pictures for. On the other hand, once you start watching a video, your stuck watching it for the next few hours.

Looking at photographs and old home video recordings is a pastime for obese people.....so that they can look back to the good old days when they ony weighed in at 26stones and had a 56" waist.......those were the days hey guys?????

Old photographs. Because they have so many more memories than home videos.

i prefer to look at old pictures:
watching a video shows you more, but i don't feel like i connect to the memories as well. looking at an old picture, you think back to what was going on. you can remember the way the weather felt, the sounds and smells around you, the emotions that you were experiencing. movies always instill that "what happens next" feeling. pictures allow you to reminise (sp) at your own pace, going back and taking it all in as you do.
there's nothing like looking back at pictures of yourself and old friends and remembering the days and events that made those people and places special.

photos; they evoke memories, and are far better than poor quality video, which jumps everywhere and gets eaten by the machine... we watch videos, we look at photos, and discuss them...whats the limit of a video...oooh, look at that (hat) or whatever youre wearing....
mind you i have been taking photographs for over 30 years, so i may be slightly biased.

Home movie. Pictures are so one-dimensional and are so limited, whereas movies give you a better idea of what was going on and better views. On my honeymoon, my wife and I shot video in Maui - we love watching it so much more than looking at the pictures for these reasons!

I'm nostalgic, and I'd choose photographs. simply put, there's something neat, about turning old pages, looking at photos, of friends ,family, pets, and old houses....seeing how people used to live, that car that dad used to have....of course, i'm slightly biased...I have 8tracks, 45 records, turntables, and even the old style ceramic records(ask your history teacher about them). To me, looking at photos on the computer saves you space, and time...but on the opposite end, a computer wipe won't happen to a bookshelf.

you can ask questions about old photos and discuss things. Video is there and on to the next bit. I like to sit and leaf with my family and friends.
