Sorry this is going to be a long answer for the price you can get the laptop for it is a good buy however the thing about sony is this - they make a small upgrade to a laptop then resell it with a new model number. For example the specs of the FS315E:
Intel Celeron-M 380 Processor 1.6GHz
512MB DDRII SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive
15.4" XGA Widescreen TFT Screen
Intel GMA 900 128MB shared graphics
Integrated LAN and 56k v.90 data fax modem
Integrated wireless 802.11b/g
3 USB 2.0 Sockets
4-pin Firewire (IEEE 1394) Port
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded
And the specs for the FS415e:
Intel Celeron-M 390 Processor 1.7GHz
512MB DDRII SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive
15.4" XGA Widescreen x-Black TFT Screen
Intel GMA 900
Integrated 2-in-1 card reader – reads Memory Stick Pro & Memory Stick Duo
3 USB 2.0 Sockets
Integrated Docking Port
4-pin Firewire (IEEE 1394) Port
Integrated LAN and 56k v.90 data fax modem
Integrated wireless 802.11 b/g LAN
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded
And finally the FS515e:
Intel Celeron-M 390 Processor 1.7GHz
512MB DDRII SDRAM
80GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive
15.4" XGA Widescreen x-Black TFT Screen
Intel GMA 900
Integrated card reader – reads Memory Stick, Memory StickPro & Memory Stick Duo
2 USB 2.0 Sockets
4-pinFirewire (IEEE 1394) Port
Integrated LAN and 56kv.90 data fax modem
Integrated wireless 802.11 b/gLAN
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded
Do you notice anything?
The 315e and 415e are very similar except the motherboard and the processor there is a small processor upgrade the Celeron-M 380 has a different socket from the Celeron-M 390 processor both are from the same family so the same archetecture so they is only is slight increase in performance.
What about the 415e and 515e? Cant see anything? According to this the 515e loses a USB port. This is why I avoid Sony they just rebrand and resell older model laptops.

YES!!!
I use one at home and they're great laptops
I've never had problems using add-ons and it's amazingly reliable.
I put both my laptops through a lot of abuse. Not just physically by moving them around a lot but the hard drive takes a hammering too.
I use a lot of music and editing software that would normally slow a laptop down to a crawl but my Vaio seems to cope perfectly
I'd highly recommend one!!!

Sony tends to be expensive for what it is. I would recommend Acer. We have had one for just over a year now and have had no problems with it, even though we live in a hot climate and it is switched on for at least 18 hours a day.
Your best bet is to steer away from dell. We had one before and had nothin but trouble with it.

i personally don't like brand name laptops. bcoz they charge u a lot just for its name. I would recommend you to get a BTO (it means Built To Own) this way, you can choose what u want in the laptop. BTO laptops are usually 100+ pounds off the brand name ones. (I got a laptop for 750 pounds when in SHARP it was 1100 pounds!) Also Sony uses Samsung memory for RAM which can be dodgey bcoz Samsung dishes out RAM which is not fully checked!! I hope this was helpful..... :)

As long as it works, that price is very good.
Watch the heat with it though.
