I've had buns for a few months now. In the first month i got him, he had healthy coat of fur. he still has, but in the past month he's been shedding quite alot of fur. he doesnt seem to be balding though. I was wondering if it might be because i bathe him about once a fortnight? does that have anything to do with his fur dropping?

maybe you have made your bunny to eat something that it's not supposed to the reason it is shedding a lot of fur..like for dogs..there are certain foods that they are prohibited to eat and once you make them eat it..as a result they shed a lot of fur..or sometimes it happens that hairy and fluffy animals just tend to shed fur like that but there's nothing really wrong with them..or else don't bathe them all the time it could not be good for their coat..like what you noticed it is shedding off..you could maybe just bathe them like once a week or in 2 or 3 weeks..

It's called molting or shedding, they just change coats a couple of times a year. They all have a different way of doing this, some rabbits just lose a few hairs at a time and others look like a dandelion gone to seed. Unless you see bare patches or flaky skin, that's all it is.

First off. Rabbits don't need to be bathed. They are very clean on their own. Besides you may just be drying out his skin. Second it's normal for them to go thru a heavy shed about twice a year.

In this heat all animals will drop fur (shed). As long as its not bald spots from him scratching you should be O.K.

You should only bathe him if he's extremely dirty, otherwise you dry out the oils in his coat, and, yes, that will cause the hair to fall out.

I have to rabbits and Its totally fine, as long as they are not balding anywhere as that could be mites. Make sure you brush them often so they dont get furballs. Dont they jsut love being bathed....not!

It sounds like your rabbit is molting. Brush him or her with a pet brush for rabbits, usually available at most pet stores. It should stop in a couple of weeks. I usually do not bath my rabbits, they keep themselves very clean and its fun to watch them groom themselves. If their feet get dirty, you can use baby wipes unscented to clean him/her up.

Rabbits really shouldn't be givin baths. They clean themselves. You should only give your bunny a bath when it is really dirty.
