what do think of TV reality shows?

I'm getting rather sick of them really. I think it's OK when they do the celebrity ones that benefit charity (like Only Fools on Horses, for Sport Relief) - and I suppose Big Brother (aarrgh) is becoming a bit of an institution, and was the original. I just wish they would stop continually making more - Love Island is just desperate and dire! Those that have real people with real problems, like the ones that sort out children's behaviour (Little Angels, Hse of Tiny Tearaways, Supernanny) or perhaps other areas of life like finance (Bank of Mum and Dad, Spendaholics) are pretty good as the viewer can also benefit from them. Its the ones where you put people in random situations and then film them are getting a bit old.

Sorry, but of a ramble with no firm point. I guess I am saying that some of the entertainment reality shows are probably here to stay, and some forms of reality show can be useful to the viewers, but TV Companies really have to watch the standard of what they are making.

Poor old Mark Burnett.
Wasn't really ready for the Americans.
That 'Adventure Racing' thing he had showed what was best in the human spirit. After he pitched 'Survivor' to Les Moonves (CBS) bet he really cringed until the money started rolling. Now he's doing 'The Apprentice' - sellout.
That 'Castaway' thing in the beginning was fun, and unashamedly human (warts and all). Then 'Big Brother' saw the viewing spike every-time someone got into the hot-tub, and that was the end of that.
Reality TV should continue in the form it had before the current obsession, thankfully today's cr*p should disappear.

There is an awful lot of reality shows on tv the now but it sure beats watching depressing Corrie or Eastenders.

I think you can compare reality shows in this day and age to the time of the Roman Empire when they threw people into the coliseum with live tigers and lions and watched them get eaten alive. That's where we are headed. People like to watch others suffer. Sadly, that's entertainment. It always has been.

things like big brother aren't reality because they KNOW that cameras are they so they aren't being real, they are being fake and extreme just to be liked.

plus they don't have to pay actors or script writers, so its a bigger profit, and they get money from people "ringing in to vote people off" lamos

but some reality TV shows like little people, big world about dwarfism is good, but them its not really fake reality

reality TV shows should be banned there full of inflated egotistical idiots and thats only my opinion on the clips I've had to endure while waiting for some half decent programme to start i couldnt watch the whole programme

I love them!!!! I have watched since MTV's real world first came on. depends on the show. Next top Model (Britain or America) I want to be a Hilton and The Apprentice. I feel so guilty but NO calories so that is great.

They are the worst TV shows to ever come into existence...If I had my way I'd ban them forever..especially that crappy celeb Love Island and BB, the only one I find somewhat ok is Wifeswap at least its amusing. Only morons with no life watch BB....
