That is a tough question. I like Leonardo Da Vinci in the Renaissance, Jan Vermeer van Delft in the Baroque, and Salvador Dali in the 20th Century. Hieronymous Bosch is fascinating, but he was much less skillful than the painters listed first. Vermeer was certainly the best painter of all time. I suppose he is my favorite overall, but I like the others too. I recall well the first time I saw a photo of a Vermeer painting. I was just beginning to paint with oils. Such uncanny skill blew my mind.
