The question of how celestial bodies and living organisms came to exist, once the big bang happened, is essentially settled. We have good evidence to support the view that stars and planets form from clouds of gas and dust, and we know that living organisms are the product of evolution.
However, no-one really knows how the big bang came about. There is very good evidence to suggest that matter can come into existence spontaneously (see the 'quantum vacuum' and the 'Casimir Effect') so that suggests that existence itself is a matter of probability rather than cause and effect. Perhaps the big bang was just one random fluctuation in the quantum nature of the universe, of which there are an infinite number, of infinitely varying properties, and we just happen to be living in one that is suitable for life to develop. No-one knows, and maybe no-one ever will know.
Of course, a god cannot be the answer since it's clearly impossible for intelligence to exist before there is a universe in existence for it to develop in.

I think the only way to truely understand the meaning of existence, what was here before etc... is to accept you will never understand. As we "come into existence" we try to relate our minds and way of thinking to explain everything. I beleve everything was always in existance, and there is no reason why. Ive just seen a lot of answers pop up saying it was god. I also think that gods were created by humans to make themselves believe that they have answers to all these difficult questions. Like the need to think "theyre looking down from heaven....theyre in a better place now...etc.." is a lot more comforting than theyve dissapeared out of existence.
And who said there was a big bang. Might have never happened or might have happened an infinite number of times. Bang expand contract .........bang ...and all over again...You have to try and comprehend this phenominal amount of time. the human race is a hairs breadth on the time line of this planet. Your life is a hairs breadth of the amount of time humans existed. Maybe our galaxy is a tiny flash of time compared to the universe, and our universe is a tiny moment of some grander sceme of things...

In the beginning (whenever that was) God greated the heavens and the earth.
Any other explanation requires too much faith to accept.

Ask God from your heart! He will tell you how he made it. He even makes things so easy and clear which may look tough and untouchable.
