i have been "out of the loop" for various reasons concerning the situation between Isreal and Lebabnon. however, i'm trying to get the facts straight so i can keep up to date.

could someone summarize for me what happened, how it started and what has been going on over there, please?
also, please be as unbiased as possible. i'm looking for factual info, not just someone "bitching" about another country....
also, where did Hezbollah come from?? i've never heard of them before....

thanks!

Hezbollah conducts a successful mission into Israel and kidnaps a few soldiers and threatens to kill them.

Israel sends in military and attempts to grab the soldiers back and whipe out Hezbollah fighters at the same time.

Hezbollah retaliate and send rockets into Israel

Israel start getting heavy and bombing local towns and villages in Southrn Lebanon which are suspected of hiding Hezbollah people.

Hamas starts to join in on the side as well.

Israel gets heavier and whipes out a few civilians and kids in the process.

Tit-for-tat continues..

(Hezbollah, meaning 'party of god', is an Islamic revolutionary party from the 80s, which aims at restoring lost land that Israel claimed from previous Southern Lebanon a few decades ago-- not to mention the fact that they are also religiously involved in doing "Holy War" etc.)

Ok apologies for the obvious spelling errors in advance.

The tensions ultimate date back to 1948 but lets not go down that road at the moment.

hezbulah is an Islamic group that (like the IRA in Ireland) is part rogue terrorist and part established political party is attempting to destabilize Israel in order to support the Palestinians and to ultimate cause trouble for the US.

hezbulah is largely funded and armed by Syria and Iran

Lebanon "hosts" hezbulah but not entirely willingly because Syria has undue influence over the country and the government is quite weak.

An Israeli solder was kidnapped from the Gaza by hezbulah. Israel decided that a strong response was needed in order to deter hezbulah or other groups from doing the same and therefor are bombing Lebanon.

Hezbulah is using this bombing as an excuse to, in turn, bomb Israel.

Iran and Syria are "diplomatically" using the exchange to call Israel a terrorist state and that they are perpetrating mass murder.

Resolution, in my view, will be temporary at best.

I may have missed some of the finer points but I think that is a fair outline of the current situation.

It all started with Lebanon (Hizbollah) kidnapping two Israeli soldiers. Ofcourse, Israel was probably just itching to to bombard Lebanon because when Hizbollah did not return the two kidnapped Israeli soldiers then that is when the bombing started. It has been tit for tat since then with Lebanon being the real loser in all this because innocent civilians are being killed every day. Condoleza Rice was in Rome trying along with the UN to find some kind of solution. Israel in the meantime is refusing to stop the bombing. Because they have killed so many innocent civilians as of yesterday in one building they've decided to stop the bombing for 48 hours but soon after that they will continue their attack. The rest you can read through CNN.com

there are countless pre-programmed human beings available proclaiming with all earnest that Hezbollah do not have taken the tow infantrymen. My situation with this concern is as follows in the initiating a soldier is in reality a soldier, educated, and conscious that sacrifice for a united states of america is area of the pastime. Taking 2 civilians and soliciting for his or her go back in my opinion is significantly better valid. Secondly its both human beings being complacent or no longer somewhat being concerned, back in my opinion, there is not any way everyone can convince me that killing three hundred+ civilians is a splendidly justifiable offensive for the deaths of 25 civilians and the kidnapping of two infantrymen. That wondering merely is going opposite to historic guidelines, modern guidelines, favourite guidelines (eye for an eye fixed), morality posed with suggestions from religions (christianity, Judaism, Islam), and everyday human compassion. that is rather cruel, something some human beings ought to come too in the adventure that they ever desirous to linger on the concept-about what about the different aspect of concept.

If by situation you mean the current war between israel and lebanon...

Past history notwithstanding, the current events were sparked about 3 or 4 weeks ago by Hamas (classified as a terror organization) taking a hostage in retaliation for civilian deaths allegedly caused by indiscriminate use of Israeli area effect weapons, in palestine. This was responded to by the israeli defense forces (IDF) making incursions into gaza to try to recover their captured soldier, and israel's arresting of a great deal of the elected hamas legislators from Palestine. These events were followed by hizbullah raiding israeli troops in a cross border raid from lebanon, where they captured 2 soldiers. The IDF then launched massive artillery and air bombardment of Lebanon, mostly southern lebanon where hizbullah is based, causing billions of dollars of infrastructure damage (roads, power plants, airport, etc etc) and killing many civilians (close to 500 now). During the air strikes and artillery strikes, hizbullah has been firing hundreds rockets into Israel as well, killing civilians and causing damage themselves (but nothing near to the destruction in lebanon). There have also been cross border clashes between the IDF and hizbullah fighters with casualties on both sides.

Hizbullah is another terror organization, funded and trained in part by Iran and supported by Syria. They led the resistance to Israel's occupation of southern lebanon from 1982-2000, and they took control of the area after Israel withdrew in 2000. Since then they have been digging in and stockpiling weapons all along the border, which is why the fighting has been so rough along there.

Hizbullah takes credit for forcing the IDF out of lebanon in 2000, so they are very popular amongst the lebanese in southern lebanon. Hizbullah also provides social services like schools, hospitals, healthcare, etc in southern lebanon because the lebanese government wasn't getting the job done.

Over the course of this war, a growing chorus in the international community is criticizing israel for excessive force in retaliation for the abuction of 2 soldiers. The US, however, is being staunchly pro-israel and basically giving them free reign to do what they feel needs to be done. Everyone has pretty much forgotten about Gaza/Palestine. You'll have to watch the news and read the reports to form your own opinion.

Hope this helps..

Hezbollah has sneaked across into Israel and abducted two Israeli soldiers and refuses to give them back.
They were warned that this would happen and now they are hiding among the civilian population using them as human shields.
They have missiles hidden in peoples homes that they are firing from these neighborhoods into Israel.
And the Israeli's are trying to weed them out and its killing civilians.
Everyone is down on Israel over this, but they did not start this action.

The americans want to attack Iran but can't come up with any more lame WMD excuses.

So, they get their puppet Israel to attack Palestine and Lebanon in the hope that Iran will help these countries.

If Iran helps then that will be the cue for the US to go and invade Iran and take all their oil.

Simple really.

First, The problem that Israel stole parts from south lebanon.. and they want to destroy any1 says no to israel...
Second Hezb alla...is patriots..they defend their countries when it was occupied by Israel in 1982 and they won and in 2000 they freed a part in south lebanon... They try to get their rights by politics or by force...
In some countries they consider HEZBALLA terrorist group while they consider Israel ,who destroyed Lebanon the most beautiful country in middle east , defends her self...
Thats the real of both qustions

Summarize it? Sure.

Terrorists (Arabs) will not leave Israel alone to live in peace.

So, Israel said, "Enough!" And went into Lebanon to end the terrorism.

In summation, I think Israel is kicking some a**.
