I'd genuinely be fine with it. I'm an Avionics technician in the RAF, and I've worked with female technicians before, they're just as capable as the men. If you can prove you're good at your job, it doesn't matter what sex you are.

As a women in the construction Field I would say that it depends on the person. The upside about having men on a crew is that they usually do not get pissy about the small things. I never did tho, but some that I have seen refused to pull their own weight. I would recommend a few women and the rest men. Make sure they know how to take jokes and laugh them off or there will be alot of problems.

Good luck, you will need it. Most men builders talk to the female customers as if they are thick so most of your hassle will probably come from that department. As a customer I listen to the person doing the job and ask them questions, if they give me straight answers and don't try to bullshit I can usually tell if they know their stuff. At the end of the day we all want a job done properly and it wouldn't matter to me if a woman or man did it. If strength was involved I would perhaps have reservations with a female...you could always have a beefcake there beside you!

Obviously Males hands down.

Little boys play in the dirt pretending to be construction people with toy trucks.

Little girls play with dolls and tea parties.

What it means is how early this shapes one life.

Does that mean that a woman can't be a better carpenter than a male? Not at all.

It is about perception.

I think you should always have a front man and if you are starting a daycare you'd always want to have a front woman.

If you want to fight the system, then you are not cut out to be a business woman although you might be great in the trade.

I am a site manager with a multi million pound company and would have no qualms employing female operatives into the industry. We currently have 2 female planners and 1 female engineer based at my office. Qualifications and experience are the only points on which you can make a decision not gender.

Personally it would not bother me either way. I have recently had some work done on the house and went for the builder who I felt most comfortable with, knowing he would be in my house for a fortnight. Sad and scary, but I have two small children and although they were never alone with him, I might have been more comfortable with a woman.

I would trust a woman more because she would have had to work harder to prove herself in the building trade.
