Right click the drive u want to format and select format. Or open Command Prompt and write "format c:", change c with the drive u want to format. Best way is to download Partition Magic 8.0

You may use like Partition Magic 7 to format your hard drive, though you should not format your current boot drive...

2 way you have:
1: goto my computer -> right click on the drive -> format
2: goto start -> run -> type "cmd" without quotes and press enter.
is black command promt type "format /switch"
eg: format c: /q
/q = quick format
/s = format and copy system files
/u = if you use this swith cannot unformat this drive make removes all table on disk
/c = check mark on all bad sectors
for any other switch just type format /?

if its other than your windows partiton,, just open dos
"Start>run>command(or)cmd"
in the balck window type
"format d:(or)whatever drive you wanto"
i dont know how comfortable u r with this but better have someone whos done this by your side, you could lose important data by mistake

LABLE show u all drives names and change it LABLE
VOL show u the name of the driveVOL
VER to know what edition of dos u use VER
FORMAT C: to formate ur drive c desk FORMAT
TYPE to show the documents TYPE
DEL to delete anything DEL
REN to rename specific document REN
COPY to copy the document COPY
XCOPY to copy document contain branches XCOPY
DEFRAG to delete the typ of partition ur hard desk DEFRAG
SCANDISK make check to the hard disk SCANDISK
SYS to move the system files SYS
UNDELET to get back any deleted file in ur system

if you desired to format OS install drive (say c:) then you use bootable CD or floppy.then give command "a:\>format c:".
otherwise you can foramt other drive by dos command "format d:".
