This is not to incite hate or violence but to question the way the press and electronic media works. When the 7 bombs killed 200 people in Mumbai there was not half as much fuss made as is now that people are being killed in Lebanon. Are the lives of Indians worth less? My view is all this is lipservice to the Islamic world for fear of the oil taps being turned off. The poor Indians have no such valuable commodity that the world is so heavily dependant on. The truth please.

Well what happened in India is because of terrorism and since Israel is willing and capable of fighting the war on terror, we have to focus on that; a win for Israel will also be a win for India and every country all over the world. Terrorist needs to be sent a message, that they can't just bully everyone to get what they want. It is unfortunate though that you are not getting the coverage and the assistance that you need but the world is at a volatile point right now, because we are standing on the edge of WW-III.

I don't see that the two are comparable.
I was disappointed about the coverage of the Mumbai bombings ,compared with say the London bombings . I definitely agree that the media is far more focused on the deaths of its own people ,and also on the deaths of Europeans and Americans above those in the third world.
However ,the deliberate ,repeated and continuing murder of civilians by a state, especially one supported by the most powerful interests in the world ,is rightly a great cause for concern, and hopefully can be stopped ,thus saving many more lives, if there is enough coverage and outcry.
In other states the deaths of Muslims happens in large quantity ,with far less coverage per death than equivalent US, EU or Israeli deaths.
Lebanon does not as far as I know have oil to sell otherwise ,I imagine ,the West would have given the Lebanese Army the resources and support to restrict Hesbollah themselves
I was reading the Spanish press during the Madrid bombings ,which were of a similar size to Mumbai, and understandably they gave a lot of coverage .But that same paper ,El Pais , usually has very good international coverage ,putting it ahead of domestic matters ,so I'm sure they would have given both these events a lot of space ..
The Daily Mail ,you may be pleased to know ,initially put the Lebanese plight on page 10 or 15 ,after articles about an actress's under arm hair for instance. However ,The Mumbai disaster was also treated similarly by that paper. It has taken them a week or two to give Lebanon better coverage. Perhaps the civilian casualty toll needs to cross 600 ,for brown people ,before it becomes more serious than underarm hair ?

Your argument is naive and ill informed.

The situation in Lebanon is a totally different in that a whole country of innocent civilians is under attack and requires international aid.

The Mumbai bombings, whilst tragic, were a domestic event within India, which the Indian government was able handle internally without the need for foreign aid.

The media simply reports in proportion to the scale of events, and some one off bombings do not hold the publics attention like a prolonged and sustained military attack by one country on another.

It's nothing to do with oil either, if you took the time to check before posting you'd find that India is much richer in natural resources than Lebanon.

Judging by this ill-informed pile of crud, and other offensive utterings by yourself elsewhere on this site I can only assume that you have a problem with Islam generally. I have got no time for the extremists within Islam who would start the holy war right now but I also have no time for the fundamentalist christian right who also seem determined to get the 'war to end all wars' underway. What is particularly frightening is that they seem to be very much in control of the worlds largest superpower and are happy to send as much cash and weaponry as is required to Israel to let them start it. And don't think that this ain't happening right now, the UK press is reporting that the USA has been refuelling the planes carrying these weapons to Israel, on our soil without telling us.

Like someone earlier said, oil makes a whole lot of difference. One more thing...people blame the Israelis for the civillian deaths, when fingers should be pointing to Hezbollah. If they cared so much about the civillian populace, they wouldn't be launching their rockets from civillian areas knowing fully well that the Israelis would definite launch reprisal attacks aimed at their military bases.

India is a very powerful country showing restraint in the face of provocation from you know who. The day it decides to move against the perpectuators of this crime thewhole world will sit and listen. I hate the bombing of the hard working people of Mumbai and i personally condemn it.
It did recieve enough coverage by CNN and BBC though.

Israel vs Lebanon is more imp b/c Pakistan/India is a long time war that has just been going along. Israel vs Middle East is now greatly escalading. People want news, not the same old thing.

I have chosen to limit the amount of BBC news I watch as I am tired of how one sided the thing is. We hear call od IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE! but only get angry when Irael refuse to stop their strikes when hezbollah have refused to stop fighting, and where was the Lebanese government duringthe escalation of attacks by terrorists from their country on Israel?

I am not wholly in favour of how Israel are acting but I do understand and hate to see such one sided press coverage

Ya the left wing media and the left wing pro terrorists anti Israeli peace marchers are hypocrites. They only want to bash america and israel. They're too afraid to pick on Russia, China, or anywhere else human rights tragedies occurr.
Most all media outlets are pro-left, anti USA, anti-Israeli. They are more concerned with bushbashing then real news or real tragedies.
