Depends on what you mean. As someone else said, it is called prostitution. In some places, Australia, Nevada, and various countries, it is legal. In other places, most of the US, most of Europe, it is illegal.
Still some would say that marriage is legalized prostitution, where some women, or men, pay for their sex, by the upkeep of the other person in their life. Then again, if a man takes a woman out on a date, or series of dates, buys the woman food, gives her gifts, takes her places, and he expects sex before the end of the relationship, should is this be considered sex for money?
In most Christian Countries, prostitution is considered illegal, because of the teachings of Christian Churches. Still, it seems to occur more often in countries that have Christian (or Muslim) communities, than it does in Non-Christian Communities. This could be because some women in these other countries, feel they can have sex with someone else who is not their partner without censure, or for other reasons.
We know that at least 15% of all children born, are not the offspring of the male partner in any heterosexual relationship, and it has been reported that up to 80% of women, have extramarital affairs, and of those, up to 50% have reported they did it either for financial gain, either for furthering their husbands career or for money in their pockets, reduction in the price of goods or services. Should this be considered sex for money?
Great question, but the answer is hard, no matter what anyone says.
