It really depends on the criteria that you are looking for. States are going to vary greatly when it comes to rankings on education, crime prevention, cost of living, etc. From a personal favorite point of view I would put Colorado on the top of the list. I'm basing this primarily on the sheer beauty of the state, although if you are an outdoors person you will love the seemingly endless opportunities to hike, rock climb, bike, etc.

Since North Carolina is not the best state......all personal preference.

North Carolina is only great because all the West Virginia Crew has moved there. Will the last person going to NC please turn off the lights.

i'd have to say north dakota. its considered the party state - known for its crazy spring break beach party's!!! party on
